  1. This is an on-going debate.. some people's fans are quiet, some sound like a freakin hair dryer. Mine was one of those. Just because yours isn't loud doesn't mean other people's aren't. I mean the amount of people who have posted this exact thread can't all be wrong.
  2. There was a bad batch, I had memtest errors, returned them for a new set. Fixed now.
  3. Make one of these http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...2243#post342243
  4. Yes, this has happened to a lot of people including myself. I think the reason for it is once you've installed the floppy drivers and begin to setup Windows, it tries to overwrite them with ones on the setup disc. (This may be incorrect) However if you follow the guide to integrate the RAID drivers onto the Windows setup disc, this eliminates the need for a floppy disc, no F6, just install Windows as if you weren't running RAID. This solved by blue screen issue. Follow this guide: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=89&t=51140 You will need the RAID driver .inf files and nLite.
  5. Hmm.. unfortunate. I can't completely picture what went wrong with your project, however if you can get the holes drilled as close to the edges as possible, then use 3mm machine screws, nuts and springs to hold it down. Push pins were to flimsy for me which was expected. jumpman, 3mm machine screws for the holes, as mentioned above. I had to travel to B&Q (our local hardware store) for those, and nuts.
  6. Slipstream the RAID drivers onto a WinXP setup CD, and let me introduce you to Bob... your uncle.
  7. Yes my chip was the retail packed version. Good luck with your project Pure_Evil.
  8. jumpman, I used a hacksaw to chop it up and a file to tidy it up. Pure_evil, yes I used 3mm machine screw nuts which are very small, I could not find any plastic washers small enough so I made my own out of some clear plastic that was lying around (just the stuff that retail packaging is made out of... just cut up two small squares, nothig special. I should have took a picture, oh well..
  9. Chewbacca, yes I have a 120mm case fan drawing air in from the front. But as you can see there is no fan mounted directly above the chipset heatsink. Load temps are 44C for my chipset. I've just ran Prime95 for 12hrs to test my oveclock. I'm happy to say it's stable. YAY!
  10. I recently made a passive cooler here: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...2243#post342243
  11. Here's my attempt: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...2243#post342243
  12. Thanks chewbacca. Yes I have the NV silencer too. I moved my video card to the lower PCI-Express slot and moved the SLi jumpers over, which allows the card to run at 8x PCI-E which sees no decrease in gaming performance. My video card completely covers the chipset in the higher slot also, which is why I moved it. I'm sure you could do the same, however as I stated above SLi is out of the question with this cooler - it would need to be modded further.
