  1. I had the same problems and it was to do with the memory timings. Sharp helped me with those and all works fine now.
  2. I also had slow boot up cos of the memory. Experienced when I tried different settings.
  3. Also try with only one stick of ram in slot 2 if you are using dual channel. I had the error after installing xp and it was to do with my memory timings.
  4. I might be wrong but try with only one stick of ram in slot 2 first and see if you can start windows. I had memory setting problems and with all the various settings I tried I got various errors including ntloader file missing. Have only one ram in the slot and it booted up fine, proving it was not the install and my memory. Obviously this is only if you are using 2 sticks in dual channel mode.
  5. I tried in the orange and yellow slots, but have to admit that I persisted mainly with the orange slots as that is the main one that everyone seems to recommend. Also, apparently there are two types of KVR in that you can get them rated at CL3 and CL2.5. Mine are the CL3 type. I tried variants of CL2.5 settings and no joy.
  6. Hi Sharp, Thanks for your info - it stopped a newb like me from pulling my hair out! I've tried all types of combinations and only way I could get stable was to set the Dram Frequency to 166. Has there been something wrong with the site? It's taken me all day to get on. Anyway, as soon as I saw your reply, I printed out the settings and tried them and everything worked first time. So a very big thanks again. All the other forums I have browsed through did not have direct info for this board.
  7. Can anyone help me and advise the correct settings for the kingston pc3200 ram KVR400x64C3A/512. Pc works with either ram module in, but when I put both in the orange slots, it bluescreens and reboots just prior to the logon screen. Memtest on each piece individually is error free. I tried the basic settings as per rgones instructions and still having problems. Tried Standard settings of 3.0-3-3-3 and still no good. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi Guys, just for your info, I sorted out the problem. It was an application called folderguard. I've been using an older version (5.2) and upgraded to the trial v7.5 and only caused a problem when both the antivirus and firewall were installed and running. Thanks for all the help.
  9. Hi guys, I've decided to upgrade the memory to a recommended brand and follow the newbie install procedure. Hopefully that will sort out my problems. Thanks for all your help so far.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. On another thread the advise is to not install the nvidia ide driver or the usb driver and also the firewall/nam and to only use the ntune from the web and not the install cd that came with the board. What is the recommendation. If I go with above, then I will have to rebuild my pc from scratch again. It seems a shame to not be able to use the inbuilt hardware firewall, but if it is a common problem then I suppose I will have to wait for nvidia to fix.
  11. Back again. The bios date is 03-10-2005 and am running the memtest now and so far no errors after 35 mins and one pass. Version of zonealalrm is the latest security suite v6.0.631.003 Have also tried older versions that I have and still the same. It is a fresh install that is ghosted back on and the antivirus that I have tried so far is nod32 & avast. Combinations of the above still give me the bsod.
  12. From memory it is the venice core, but I can definitely confirm when I get home in about 7hrs time.

  14. Sorry, I am at work at the moment, when I get home I will check the bios date and advise and run the memtest. I have loaded the optimized defaults. Any other checks/ tests to run would be appreciated.
  15. Hi all, I recently purchased and setup the ultra d with amd64 3000+ and all was going well with the install until the end when I installed the antivirus. When I shutdown the pc I get bsod and reboot. If I uninstall the antivirus it seems ok. I have tried different antivirus and the same happens. I have read this and other forums and tried uninstalling the active armor and firewall and installing zonealarm and antivirus and still the same result. I have rebuilt several times and am not sure if I installed the nvidia sw ide drivers. I cannot see any reference - is there a way to check for definite and also a way to remove it without rebuilding. Also this antivirus and bsod is causing me concern, is it the active armor firewall? I have rebuilt without the active armor and with zonealarm and nod32 and still got the bsod's. I have tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers on the cd (v6.37) and installing driver version 6.66 and also a version 7 that is out there. These gave me bsod's when trying to run normal applications like firefox or outlook. By the way, this bsod is only when I try to shutdown the pc. Could it be the memory or the bios settings? Please help as I don't know what else to try. I will rebuild and install certain drivers in certain order if that is what is required, although this will take some time. However, if I can avoid it, then it would be preferable. Also I have made a ghost image of the stable install without the antivirus which is what I am running now. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure I put all that I can remember in here. Thanks
