  1. Thanks for the link, my PSU works out fine  2gb memory would be nice though i might try and hold on and upgrade that with a new chip and mobo
  2. Ok i'm looking to get a new Gfx card, and was thinking of going for the EVGA 8800GTS SuperClocked 320MB, I'm not looking to upgrade anything else until next year and thought about going for a X1950XT, however as the 8800GTS isn't that much more and is DX10 it seems to make more sense. Does anyone think I'll have issues running the card on my current set up?
  3. http://www.shinyhardware.co.uk currently have a stock of the Evercool fans, i've also seen a small amount appear on ebay yesterday Thanks for the advice, i finally found Happy's review of the Vantec but as it sounds easier to fit the Evercool i've gone for that.
  4. After a weekend of making horribly loud noises i've come to the conclusion that my NF4 chipset fan is on the way out. As a replacement i've found a place in the UK that supplies the Evercool VC-RE, however i'm sure i've read on this forum somewhere that the Vantec CCB-A1C works just as well if not better and was wondering what people would recommend
  5. Thanks for the help, i had found that info from tech-recipes but was wondering if there was anyway to get rid of it for good. Though as long as its not just me that has this problem i'm sure i can live with it
  6. Ok so i've installed the new chipset drivers except the IDE driver, as whenever its installed i get an annoying 'safely remove hardware' icon in the system tray telling me i can stop my main HD the WD raptor, which i can't work out how to get rid of. Bearing in mind i've put this rig together primarily as a gaming rig with the view to doing some overclocking when i've finally got the balls and some spare time so the question is, is it worth installing the IDE driver and if so how do i get rid of this annoying icon
  7. I haven't used them myself but have heard very good reports on the G-Skill ram and they're cheaper than the other two options
  8. Definitely the Platinum imo, though i have heard that Gold clock well
  9. You can flash to the latest offical Bios using Tmods Disc from the following link - http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22031 Not sure about SATA II or if this will work from a flash stick though. The rest of the software you need should be on the Drivers disc you receive with the board, though it might not have the latest drivers 6.70, which can be downloaded here - http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp You may also find that the chipset fan is quite loud, also it can run quite hot (though i believe its rated to run fine at 60c+), a good replacement for it is the Evercool VC-RE cooler, there is a guide for this around here somewhere but i can't find it at the moment. Good Luck
  10. Thanks for the responses, i guess i'll have to save my pennies for another Raptor
  11. I have to admit that i'm a complete Noob when it comes to RAID and was wondering if it was worth getting another Raptor and running RAID on my machine, i primarily use it for gaming and surfing the net
  12. I tend to hit my chair when i'm mad, as its a big solid plactic thing so i try not to get mad too often
  13. I can't comment on the effectiveness but i'd recommend you get the SI-120 as the XP-120 blocks the first PCIex slot
  14. I haven't used it myself though i have heard good reports, am considering getting some in the near future so if you do get it let me know how you get on
