  1. I just read this article this morning. For that reviewer I say "reading is fundamental". As previoulsy stated the LED info is in the manual and it says "CPU Detected" for 3 LEDs. How could he interpret this as a CPU error? He moved the memory around, got a partial boot and still blames the CPU/mobo? Does this guy work for Dell? :shake: Plus, how could he try to get it fixed and not have found Dfi-street or any other forum that could have answered his LED question (and many others) in seconds? Fact is this guy must review normal consumer stuff all the time and not enthusiast stuff. Anyone with half a brain knows by reading about this board it is NOT a noob board. This guy is the epitome of a noob, or just another reviewer in Asus' pocket. It is sad to say, but this review has really turned me off to THG. I remember way back in the day (just before celeron 300a time) you read Anand and THG. They were good and you could trust them. I am not so sure about that anymore. Thank God there are so many more review sites now that you can turn to. Quad
  2. You should start here for OCZ ram info. http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54 Also, please update sig to reflect your bios. The main OCZ website also has basic timing inof on the product page for your RAM. Quad
  3. I am in this and the OCZ support forums. Over there, they say to avoid using the extra ram voltage we can get because they have seen a lot of burned out modules and because the heatsink right next to the jumper gets realy hot. The extra ram voltage was one of the reason I bought the DFI. They even suggest a work around. I had to RMA my ram as one module quick working, and I wonder if this was the cause. Has anyone at DFI tested this based on the OCZ claim? Do you guys recommend the same thing as OCZ, or is it OK in your eye? Thanks, Quad
  4. Test each piece separately leaving the other components at stock or as close to stock as you can. Make sure to lower the LDT muliplier also. Then, you can make sure what is holding you back. It is not the board. I can hit 360+ MHZ on mine if I lower my CPU multi. Quad
  5. Think of it this way.... They could issue one vanilla bios that would work for everyone but not ge the best performance depending on your ram. OR They could create a few bioses specifically for performance ram designed to give you the edge. It is up to us to start with what we think is best and then test from there with OUR ram. So, start with what AG said and ignore other sites UNLESS the user has your exact RAM, and maybe even CPU. DFI, AG and Rgone should not be penalized because they are catering to the OC'er in all of us. I for one would like to thank them for this... Back in the day, Iwill was doing this with their KK266 board. That is where I firt met my man Rgone! Quad
  6. Will the big typhoon fit properly on my mobo in my sig? I was about to get the xp90c and I read a review about the BT that made me want it... But, if it won't fit...... Thanks, Quad
  7. Drop you speed back to your "baseline" and re run your baseline (267x9, 5:6 divider). Maybe the data was recorded wrong, or maybe a mem setting really did change that you are not aware of? If you recorded all of your bios settings, then you can try to recreate each scenario again. You may also try to run the benchmarks right after a reboot to help them be more consitant. Just noticed you have a Tagan PSU. I think I remember reading about many issues with that brand of PSU and this DFi. You may want to look into that. So, check you voltages at all times while benching and make sure they stay the same at each FSB (except for VDimm of course). Oh, make sure you plug in all power to the mobo.... Quad
  8. A shot in the dark here. Do you have all of the power connecters to the mobo plugged in? When you switch that jumper I think you are requiring more power to the mobo even if you do not change the mem voltage. Quad
  9. Everything they said above, and I will add I am using it to burn in my new memory. Anyone who does a burn-in is hoping to achieve higher memory FSB clocks and/or tighter memory timings. The fact that you can pass memtest and still have windows errors is actually a good thing (kinda). It means you KNOW that the memory is not the issue! So, you can trouble shoot somewhere else. After you eliminate each component one by one, you can find the item causing the crash. Quad
  10. I recently got a similar setup. I have the same ram and MB. I have the venice core cpu, but a 3000+. I had no boot up issues at all, lucky me... What bios are you using ( I am still looking for the best on myself)? Also, when you can get it to boot, did you load optimized defaults? Did you plug in the floppy and molex EXTRA power connections to the MB? Have you tried give the RAM a little more voltage? Please try or update and get back. Quad
  11. I got my gear a few days ago from newegg and chiefvalue and it had the 3/10 bios. It saw my Venice fine.
