  1. I would love to thow some pics out to show off my baby. Is there a preferred process? I don't want to do it incorrectly... By the way, now running at 3.0Ghz - 40c idle /44c on load. Thanks -
  2. Yep... this board worked out great! That last 'unusable' slot was perfect for the water cooling hoses. Got it up and running, and it looks and runs SWEET! ...So far up to a stable 2.9Ghz. Thanks for the help guys...
  3. Perfect - Thanks! I now have a SLI-DR board on it's way... ...I'm so excited... it's like waiting for X-mas morning to get here. DM
  4. Sorry to ask such a silly question here... But I have access to getting the SLI-DR board, and I wanted to validate the layout before getting it... namely the available slots in the back. I have a water cooling unit, and I want to verify that there is an availble slot above the video card slot. I need this to run the hoses through. Thanks for the assistance!!! DM
  5. Synapsis, Did the MSI Mobile Pad lower your PCU temps quite a bit? I got two intake and two exhaust fans keeping decent air flow, this along with me Zalman CPU fan amd my temps still go a bit higher than I would like. Will I see a difference with the Mobile pad? Thanks. DM
  6. Please don't flame me too much... I have a noobie question regarding FSB settings and performance. I have read quite a bit of the stickies and other informational threads, but I'm just having trouble grasping the answer I am looking for. First of all, I'm a gamer first and I am looking at overall PC performance, and not how high it will bench. I am basically trying to find what is the better setting. For example... 13x230 = 2.99Ghz 12x250 = 3.00Ghz 10x300 = 3.00Ghz If all are possible to obtain, and all are hitting 3ghz - which would yield the best PC performance? Thanks. -DM
  7. Good thinking AbsoLoot, I do have several fans running, but none are running off the board. All are going through a control device (I like to control the fans). Overbyter, mind if I ask what your situation was and what you did to correct? I think the best thing to do will be what I'm hearing from the masses here, with me lowering my settings on everything and raising them a little at a time and seeing what I get. Will keep you posted - Thanks again... -DM
  8. Wow- what feedback ... Im away from my machine, so I will go by memory the best I can to some of these answers, and be more complete when I get back home. I read quite a bit on overclocking from a lot of different sources, but mostly from threads here on this site. Most from the sticky's, and some from others having questions of their own. I did not read the socket939 database as mine is a 754 and didn't think they were compatable (are they?), but did read quite a bit of other threads. My original processor was a 3400+ Newcastle. I also had 2x512 OCZ (3200) memory sticks. When I overclock it is always slowly with small steps. I am not trying to get the most out of my rig, but like to push it for better performance. I am not too worried about benches. I received the memory before I received the processor and had it stable up to 220x12 when I was done overclocking. It ran strong and stable and I was happy with it. I then went further and got the newark. I started with the current 220, and stepped it up little by little (over weeks), tweeking with the other settings when I had to, and eventually got it to the 250x12. I really don't remember when the re-booting problem started, as it would always work fine once booted. It does not lock up, freeze, or shut down, even durring heavy game play. Once booted it is again fast, strong and stable, so I never worried about it. Hope that filled in some of the missing data. Hope to get more when home again. Thanks DM
  9. I have it set to 250... Isn't that the seting for DDR 500 (PC 4000) memory? And thanks for the feedback. Definitely a start!
  10. I had my two 512MB chips in 1 and 3 until I got my two 1 gig chips. After that it would only boot up in slots 1 and 2. Might want to try that...
  11. Whenever I boot up my machine, either it a fresh start or a re-boot, it will cycle through and re-boot several times before actually getting past post and into Windows... Does anyone else have this problem? The problem is I can't validate when it started... When I received my Newark 4000+ processor, I also i immediately flashed my BIOS to 5/14. Shortly after this I thought I would try the 6/23, but no difference. I am currently on the 6/23 and like the performance, but it will take anywhere from 2 to 6 cycles through the post process before going to Windows. What it does... It will boot up, stop somewhere in the post process, then reboot and start again. Very wierd. So anyhow, Anyone anywhere see this before? Thanks to all. -DM
  12. Thanks RaptoFury... I'm getting there a little at a time - How about loading the new drivers? Is that in Safe mode as well?
  13. Thanks Enthusiast. Do I need to boot into Safe mode, or regular Windows?
  14. Any other comments, good or bad, about these drivers? Also, do I uninstall the old ones before installing these, or install over them? Thanks!
  15. Not sure if it is the same problem or not, but a while back all my USB ports went. Started the same way with the front port not being recognized. The next thing I knew my mouse and keyboard stopped working (both were plugged into back ports). Even a clean install didn't help. I ended up RMA'ing for a replacement. Been working flawlessly since... I wish you luck with yours.
