  1. did you try disabling the onboard sound in the bios before installing the turtle beach card?
  2. btw, your machine is looking pretty sweet! I wish I could afford all that!
  3. it really depends on what you do with your machine....if you game, at what resolution? 6800GS are decent but for about $230 you could prolly get a used 7800GT.
  4. i just got the G.SKILL Extreme 2GB (2x1GB) F1-4000USU202GBHZ DDR500 last week and so far, I am quite satisfied with it. Since you are in the US, I heard that newegg has them for a great deal atm. As for going with 4 sticks for 4 gigs of ram in the future, it seems that staying with 2 sticks allows you to use 1T dual channel. Usually if you use all 4 slots, you have to run at 2T. I am not sure on the numbers and how much of a performance hit it is to go from 1T to 2T. Previously, I had 2x512MB installed in my system and after reading around, I decided that going 2x1GB is better than 4x512MB. Perhaps they will have 4GB kits (2x2GB) in the future. As for your gaming question, according to your sig it seems as tho your CPU and memory will not be the bottleneck of your system. Therefore, it would depend on which video card you have installed. 2GB will be sufficient to play on all current games.
  5. but isnt 7900GT overkill for the resolution he is playing at? (1280x1024)
  6. hey chubbyfatazn, i noticed you can get ati cards for half off....do you work for ati?
  7. yeah i got a decent overclock already off corsair value ram, dunno how much further i can push it with the new ram. I'll prolly end up getting the xp90 today also as they have dropped in price. slowly but surely, I will eventually get a high performance machine like you guys
  8. you know, i do remember reading about how timings dont matter for A64 system when i first built my machine a year ago. I guess I should stick to the basics again....thanks for the advice, gonna get the gskill pc4000 today! I'm so excited.
  9. The OCZ Gold XTC are quite pricey here in in Japan, about $70 USD more than the gskills I mentioned, and the gskills are going for about $300. You americans are so lucky with newegg driving prices down!
  10. wow thanks for the quick reply....so its worthwhile to get the PC4000 samsung even tho the timings are not as tight as the infineon?
  11. Hey guys, which memory would you guys get? G. Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX (PC3200, Infineon BE-5 chip, 2-3-2-5 timings) or F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ (PC4000, Samsung UCCC chip, 3-4-4-8 timings) They are both the same inflated price here in Japan. (sigh wish we had newegg).
  12. Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted here. I sorta got lost into WoW and am still hooked after 8 months! I can't thank this site and its members enough for all the valuable info on setting up/overclocking my machine. It's been 10 months and still running strong. I really have no complaints with the performance in WoW, but I just feel like making a purchase again (I hate it when I get like this). I'm looking for something that will enhance my WoW experience. Here are the options I came up with (based on my budget): 1. upgrade to 2 gigs of ram with G.Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX kit or 2. any of two items below: Logicool G15 Gaming Keyboard Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (I only use headphones) Leadtek WinFast PX6600 GT TDH Extreme (altho I'm not sure my PSU has enough juice for SLI) Western Digital 74gig Raptor Judging from my system in my sig, what would you suggest I should get?
  13. agree with what logger said...overclocking and loading into windows right away is usually not a good idea. One crash can cause the OS to be flaky. You are actually pretty lucky that you can still boot into windows or use the system without bsods popping up.
  14. passing memtest does not ensure that it is stable in the windows environment. It could be a number of factors that made it gone too far. Personally, I would run memtest for at least 12hrs before I boot into windows.....yup that is the risk of o/cing, u will end up reinstalling the OS numerous times....
  15. Yeah I think the vcore is quite high....but looks like you've got the balls to run it. A lot of ppl say 1.6V is the max they would go....but of course if its stable and you are ok with the voltage, all the power to ya! great work!
