  1. I've searched the forum but couldnt find any straight answers to the following questions: 1a. What is the best chipset cooler (maybe passive) for Ultra-D? 1b. And is it possible to get one where I can keep my HIS X800XL in PCIe 1? 2. What should I do if I have to put my X800XL in PCIe 2? (Should I put the board in SLI-mode to get x8?)
  2. sry No one with some basic guidelines for RAM overclocking?
  3. I got these in my machine: Kingston HyperX / 2 x 512 MB (1024 MB) / DUAL RAM / DDR SDRAM / PC3500CL2.5 / 434 MHz and would like to OC them a little to take advantage of them being PC3500. I know all the technical stuff about RAM (timings etc.) but there must be over 100 different RAM settings in the BIOS - can someone tell what to do or maybe link to a guide for DFI-board RAM BIOS-OC-settings?
  4. Got the exact same DVD drive, NEC 3520 right? Its a dream when using it in windows but I had some problems using the windows install cd in it. Could be the cables though, never found the problem but used another drive. Would suggest you buy an ATI X800XL card - cheaper and equal or better performance.
  5. Try to completely remove any network driver (maybe reinstall windows to make sure) and install the nvidia system drivers without the nvidia network manager from the CD. Worked for me, might work for you.
  6. I know DFI is for overclocking, I just wanted to try it out ;-D Did some more research, and it should work: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/mb_faq_us1.j...TYPE=US&SITE=US Here is the newest driver from AMD (instead of the one in the first link): http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Techni...71_9706,00.html
  7. Ok, thanks. So it should work now? I've just read that it dosent work on DFI motherboards and that DFI boards is not recommend by amd, but that isnt true then?
  8. I've been trying to get cool'n'quiet to work on my Ultra-D board but it dosent seem to work. I've been reading some threads in this forum but couldnt find out if its possible to get it up and running. I've installed the amd driver, activated it in BIOS and changed 'power supply' in winXP to 'minimal' but I dont see any changes in the cpu speed at low work load. Is there any way to get this to work? and what more to do?
  9. Seems to work now (not 100% sure), just avoided all the Nvidia network manager stuff.
  10. Im using CAT5, but it worked fine without SP2. I did deactivate the SP2 firewall and everything but it dosent seem to have any influence on when its working or not.
  11. When not using SP2 and the non Nvidia network driver everything works fine, but when I install SP2 the connection is fine after boot up, but after a couple of minutes I loose my connection in all browsers (IE,firefox) every time. Windows update and other network programs seems to still work fine. I've tryed both drivers on the CD. Has anyone experienced anything like this? The connection is working fine on another computer, and I've disabled all kind of firewalls.
  12. PROBLEM SOLVED: The cause was a little tricky and probably got nothing to do with the motherboard. It turned out to be the DVD drive that coldnt read CD's properly in DOS mode, and made the XP-installation think there was something wrong with the hard drive. I solved the problem by using another optic drive for the installation, probably the only thing that hasnt been mentioned in this thread
  13. I've tryed with a Maxtor, Hitachi and Seagate hard drive - all with the same problem, and the DVD is NEC. I'll now find two other IDE-cables and put the Maxtor and the DVD as master in the end of each cable, only use one stick of RAM and see what happens. I dont know what you mean about "slipstreaming" the WinXP install CD. Please explain.
  14. I'm using normal ATA(33 & 100) IDE drives. RyderOCZ: I made sure that all settings were exactly as you described, though I couldnt find anywhere to disable SATA so I just changed them to "NONE". Still got the same blue screen with the same error. sycr0n: Have already used only one stick of RAM, even one from another system, with no succes. Just to try it again I took a stick out, but still the same error. I'm starting to get a little annoyed (read furious). It seems that all parts of my system work, just not together
