  1. Love the gold. It also had a nice rebate.
  2. I just swapped out my 2x1 gig sticks for 2x2 gig. My 2x2 sticks don't hit the same timings but the performance boost is noticeable. The timings are good and Sandra reports 93% bandwidth. Combined with a moderate overclock the extra ram speed ed up my video encoding, ripping and it didn't hurt far cry either, If you have the $$ get the best parts you can afford. Always buy quality ram.
  3. I am waiting for the price to drop on the 7900GTX cards. I have a 6800GT that I am dying to upgrade from. It does confuse me as to why so many reported problems with the 7800 series cards. I have been loyal to Evga and now I am watching XFX7900GTX cards. I have never run sli and like the best one card option. If the 7950 really spanks the 7900GTX I might hold off a while. Does XFX carry the lifetime warranty still ???
  4. I upgraded my memory. One gig of OCZ PC3200 Platinum modules 512x2. Platinum revision 2 stock 2-2-2-5 timing marked on head spreader. I had these running in my machine for a short time. Zero problems. $90 shipped. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146890
  5. I have the "gold" ocz 2 gig modules (1x2). I can not get as high an overclock as the platinum 3200 memory I pulled out. It does not matter if I run a higher bus speed /lower multi or 12x multiplier I just can not get above 2.6 cpu speed. That being said I would not trade my 2 gig for the 1 gig of ram. Even at 2.6 Mhz and 2 gig of ram my machine cruises pretty nice.
  6. I am having a problem with my raid 0 set up. Everything is running fine except one problem. I have a IDE back up drive and use acronis true image to back up my array weekly. I have an error that acronis can not read an area on my C partition (array). I tested the array drive with Seagate sea-tools. It reports a bad sector on one of the drives. The other raid drives tests OK. I am trying to figure out if it is really a drive problem or corrupted data on the drive that is un readable. I did nuke a bunch of symantec software from my system and the error appeared after that removal. I am considering breaking the array and reformatting the array then running sea-tools again checking for errors. Chkdsk and scan disk had zero effect. They report no problems. System runs fine. Unless someone can recommend a good hard disc tool for raid diagnostics I do not know of any other way to troubleshoot it. I would like to think it's a file problem instead of a hard drive problem but I am guessing at this point.
  7. Well my Raid-0 array has me scratching my head wondering if I have an impending drive failure or just a file problem. I have 2 Seagate sata 200 gig drives. I run acronis true image to back up my array. Acronis will not image my array anymore. I get a unreadable sector error message in acronis. If I run chkdsk I do not get any errors. I did run sea-tools. In dos I can run tests on each drive separately. One drive tests good. The other test "bad" as unreadable sectors. Would you A) RMA the drive. B)Format the array and flag bad sectors and reload C) Use advise from the forum gurus here. I considered using partition magic and changing the partition size to just over the actual size to see if the unreadable sectors suddenly "move" to another partition. The sector error is my C partition. Suggestions please-
  8. I am biased to OCZ memory (I love it). Anyone purchase what I linked below and did you have any luck or problems with OC it? For the rig in my sig. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227210
  9. Traffic jam: A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. Nothing is moving. Suddenly a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What happened?" "Terrorists have kidnapped Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton. They are asking for a $10 million ransom. Otherwise they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection." The driver asks, "How much is everyone giving, on average?" "About a gallon"
  10. Hillary Clinton gets elected President and is spending her first night in the White House. She has waited so long.... The ghost of George Washington appears, and Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Washington says, "Never tell a lie." "Ouch!" Says Hillary, "I don't know about that." The next night, the ghost of Thomas Jefferson appears... Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Jefferson says, "Listen to the people." "Ohhh! I really don't want to do that." On the third night, the ghost of Abe Lincoln appears... Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Lincoln says, "Go to the theater."
  11. Well chuck WAS world karate champ at one time and he stayed at a holiday inn express.
  12. Ah poor chuck. He is the toughest short guy on TV. Segal wore a girdle when filming "undersiege" so the story goes. I guess it's easier to kick butt in the "all you can eat" buffet line instead of real training. My favorite tough guy getting his butt kicked story was VanDam. He got dropped in a strip bar in Ny. (Scores club). Might have been Chuck Zito that gave him the gravity demo. VanDam movies are pretty funny.
  13. Why do gays like ribbed condoms? Better traction in the "mud". Ho,Ho,ouch!
  14. Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the Federal Aviation Administration, and it was shortly before Christmas when the FAA examiner arrived. In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was in order. The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing gear, and Rudolf's nose. He painstakingly reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for the sled's enormous payload. Finally, they were ready for the checkride. Santa got in and fastened his seatbelt and shoulder harness and checked the compass. Then the examiner hopped in carrying, to Santa's surprise, a shotgun. "What's that for?" asked Santa incredulously. The examiner winked and said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but you're gonna' lose an engine on takeoff."
