  1. Works fine in windows as 1394 device, but only seen as a "removeable drive" if I use the usb connector in the bios. How come no 1394 support for boot devices/removeable drives at boot? Doesn't shown up in the cmos list at all using 1394 plug.
  2. Had two (Maryland) First one was a complete dud. RMA'ed for credit. 2nd one is fine, but not much difference from the expert version.
  3. Any program that shuts down the computer like that is junk in my opinion. that said, there is a workaround but I don't remember what it was exeactly. ediT: the fix. The /NOSMBSCAN switch prevents any access to the SMBus. If you still can see temperature, voltages and fan speeds then most features are available. Copy the following line into your shortcuts target feild: "C:Program FilesSpeedFanspeedfan.exe" /NOSMBSCAN
  4. I've had Expert, 2 sli-dr's and 2 venus and I don't think venus clocks any higher, sometgimes lower in fact, maybe more ram compatability, but it's not that noticeable.
  5. they probably reveresed the wires somewhere in the manufac process of the floppy cable. Gone to usb floppy anyway. Much faster by the way.
  6. I rma'ed the defective (usb issue) board to Newegg for refund. That's why I got another through NCIX. Ming was very helpfull but I didn't want to wait for a repair.
  7. DFI Has NO replacements here for any reason. Ming at DFI usa said NEwegg or anyplace else most likley won't get anymore now. I did find some left yesterday at NCIX Canada and they ship to the USA so I purchased one there and they shipped the same day via Canada Express, so I'll have it Mon or Tues. It was $278 us$ + ship. Hopefully this one will be ok. . . fingers crossed . .
  8. problem right now is finding a replacement board. Not very likely unless they continue production.
  9. I already packed the board up to return. The sink has two legs that go through the board. One leg was soldered about twice as far through as the other pulling the sink at a steep angle. Turns out that was the least of the problems. oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess. As far as the usb issues in the past, Oscar is well aware of them as he fixed a handfull on various bioses along the way. On this one though it may just have been this particular MB. I don't have time to fool with it any more.
  10. Completely perfect? Floppy controller problems, usb issues, horrible mounting job on mofsets heatsink at 45deg angle and top it off with funky memory performance? I would say ab more than less than perfect. By the way, i put my Expert back in and everything is back to normal incl clocks. Yes it appears I got a bum board. Hopefully they are not all as messed up.
  11. Seems some lower memory performance reports are starting to come in at a couple of places at Xtreme and Overclockers, so it's not just me who is having problems.
  12. don't know all off hand, but the idle bios temps were low 20's at 2910 mhz, same as they were on the expert. haven't checked load yet.
  13. Logitech G15 keyboard does not work in ps2 and usb cdrom needs usb to boot to cdrom and usb floppy needs usb to boot to floppy. I have various needs to get into the bios and to dos prompts outside of windows, like Ghost boot disks, restore cd's, buios flashing from dos. Why should I go through all the workarounds if it is defective. I may try to rma for another one because I herad at least one user says a usb keyboard worked but they may not have any replacements.
