  1. wow still nothing? My computer crashes every 45mins while playing EVE-online. Anyone ?? BUeller? Bueller?
  2. bump I saw that angry was starting a video tutorial about winflash but nothing in 6 months on it.
  3. Hello brothers, I ask for your knowledge. I have just updated my Video card to an X800pro (sig is old). So far it runs slow and choppy. I have played with all the settings in the ATI Catalyst thingy (which IMO seens to run like poop) and can't get it any better. Also seems the cpu is just lugged down and having to work to hard. I have dual monitors and would play EVE-Online in one and watch TV and work on the other, all with my old fx5200. NOw with the "better" card everything is slower. I hate updating drivers for crap ang giggles, I'm from the schoool of "if it works don't F with it". But now I'm wondering if I may need to update my other stuff. 1st, I know I have the stock bios Phoenix 6.00 8/27/04) and drivers on the MB. Seemed to work fine so I never changed it (plus I don't know how). I have the newest Video card drivers from ATI. So questions- So, I think I need a new bios, chipset, lan, and cpu driver (no OC). IS THIS RIGHT? IS THERE ANY ORDER TO FOLLOW? I know how to load drivers and new hardware, are chipset, cpu, lan drivers diff? Should I do the Bios if I don't really have a clue? Can a monkey do it if they had directions? What settings will I have to go back and change after I load in the new stuff? (Why can't everything be in the FireFox/ Windows Update?) Once again I appreciate your wisdom and Karma points will be awarded! Namaste, GuruJ
  4. Thanks fellas! I'm looking to spend under a hundy. It sounds like 1 or 2 sticks wont kill me so I may just go for the 2 stick option in case one goes bad I can get a match. I have also decided to get some brand name stuff so I know who to yell at it it hits the fan! Peace
  5. Hello my brothers! Blessings to you all. I need your wisdom my friends. I'm looking to update my ram and don't know the best option. I'm not an overclocker or anything but want good no erroororrr performance. Whats my best bet? 1 stick of 1gb or 2 x 512mb If you say 2 sticks, do I really need to have a matched pair? Currently I have a 512 and would love to just pop another in. If I can't, can I upgrade from pc3200 and if so how much more? Thank you again for your time and help. Karma shall smile kindly upon you. PS. I tried searching and read a ton of crap, but it is so hard to query the proper terms to find what I want. Peace
  6. Ya my mom is used to the crayola version of the internet. When i told her she had to switch she actually freaked out about it. She heard about Gmail from someone at work and that was the only other service she wanted. She thinks she has high speed internet from Google as well. It was too hard to explain that the ISP is not the same as the people you get your email from. She really thought AOL would never let here go or that they would hold her emails and she would never get another email. She said the only other company she would switch to is Google. I tried to explain you need an invite and that made her want it more! No one at her office has an invite. She thinks she is like Jack Nicholson in the VIP lounge of the Viper Room. Anyway thanks to all of you and if you need a Gmail invite, let me know. I just signed up my mom and she has 50 to send! Peace my brothers! GuruJ
  7. Hi all, I'm lookign for a Gmail invite for my mom. She is leaving AOL (finally) and I want to get her a nice Gmail account to impress her. I will owe you one! Namaste, Jason
  8. I swear it was off! Does it have to be un-installed to be off? I even used the port checker and firewall tester to see if anything was on. Nothing ever sowed up except my d-links kazaa port blocker. I had a suspicion of a firewall because I have never been able to get on Vonage's website from this cpu. All other sites were fine, just vonage. I can now get on vonage! That quote was the one thing I didn't try because I have never used Norton or any other firewalls. Since, because, but, excuses... The trusted zone I made never did anyting to fix it. I feel like an @ss. All hail Spartucus. damnit
  9. ITS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!! HIP HIP HORAY!!!!!X3 It was the Nvidia software. What I find disturbing is that I turned off all the Nvidia stuff. How could it be "managing" my network if it is disabled? To think that a program that should be helping is causing problems when turned off! Think what it would do if it was on. Angry thanks for the solution. But why would DFI give us this software of it is so crappy. Why is there not a lil yellow paper in the box saying not to install the software provided. I have literally smoked my weight in happy stuff trying to get through this without killing myself. All this because a disabled program needed to be uninstalled. Maybe the next FAQ should be not to just turn off the Nvidia stuff but to remove it all together. Spart--thanks for all your help the last 3 days!
  10. going through my add/remove page I saw "Nvidia Forceware network access manager". Is this something that could be mucking things up? Or is this the normal Nvidia stuff? Thanks
  11. I guess it helps when you do it right! Below is the ipconfig /all. I don't know how to remove those lines you mentioned. Also you said to uninstall the networking stuff. Should I just remve the drivers from the networking line in the Device manager or is there a better way? 12. Hi again--I'm not running any firewalls on the cpu no nvidia, no Norton, no XP, nada. I don't think I'm running any network analyzer. I checked my procesi and nothing there or under any of the program names. I even checked my zips in case I forgot and downloaded one. The R1 thing.... I no not of what you speak. Maybe someone else could follow Porns lead?? That part of the log is greek to me. When I "run-> ipcongif /all " I get the lil screen that normally pops up but it only comes up for a second then disappears. I tried other commands and it stays open just not with the ipconfig /all (tried 10 other run line commands and they worked fine.) I'm running XP HOME. My network is getting it's IPs from the linksys dhcp, my isp gives me dynamic ips. The D-link's dhcp is off. Could it be my motherboard's bios, drivers, bugs or anything... maybe not up to date? I haven't changed it from when I got it as a replacement for a dead one. The only mods to the board are the big @ss Zalman copper/alum fan and the passive pyramid for the bastard chip. When I added the neon lights I didn't use the XP Neon Light Wizard. Could that be it? Maybe I blew a Ram gasket or need a LED fluid refill, anything?

  14. SPARTACUS!!!!!!!!!!!! You may have found something. I did the run "gpedit.msc" and nothing comes up but "cannot find.... try searching for it" Could this be a problem? No group policy? Hows this happen? ANy ideas from here? PS. I did both links you gave me. One was not really applicable but I did it all anyway. Thanks for those links by the way. Didn't solve it though. I'm thinking a fresh install might be my next stop. I hate doing them as I have way to much crap to re-install.
