  1. Hi all, My board has just given up the ghost. both red lights on board are on. sometimes after a full switch off it posts, but then hangs/freezes in the bios screen. i have stripped it down completly just left with vga card and sata drive. any ideas, i remeber i did have trouble getting the ram red light working but it is fine now. i dont want to give this board up as it is superb.
  2. I just cut an old heatsink to size, rip one off an old board or card, no need to buy one. there are that many musfits that heatsinks would be far to much effort for minumum diff in temps, a fan blowing over them is the beat option, and ensure you have an exhaust fan to get the warm air out.
  3. may help if you tell us what board, cpu etc. you have.
  4. AG, do you want me to up the info, my sys is water cooled including chipset though ?
  5. Now after a couple of hours running Prime@ 260 x 10 = 2600Mhz @ 1.475v x 123% = 1.81v Mem 1:1 @2.9v Temps while running prime95 for 2 hour. Cpu = 41 PWmic = 74 system 36 Ok, will stick at that and tighten it up a bit, it is currently @ 2.5-4-4-8
  6. I have my system clocked rather high and the PWM IC is running at 63c underload, cpu 39, sys 35 and that is with a heatsink on it, before that it was hitting 90c:eek: but the machine was still going fine, but i bottled it and tuned it down a bit untill i found out where it was and what it done and max temp. found 1 of the 3 out, location only. i would not worry about it, like rgone says clock it untill it becomes unstable then knock it back a notch, and if you are brave enough dont even load a temp moniter up. Think that is hot try felling your ram when you have it overclocked, i put a sensor on my ballistix ddr500 and it they where hitting 70c.
  7. Hi i currently have the following running stable. i have ran memtest 86 for a few loops, prime95 overnight but my 1m pi score is still a bit poor of 35. Ok so. 3400 (CO) 2 x 512 ballistix pc4000 256 x 10 = 2560Mhz @ 1.525v x 113% = 1.72v Mem 1:1 @1.9v Temps while running prime95 for 1 hour. Cpu = 39 PWmic = 58 system 34 I have herd the CO chip is supposed to be a rubbish overclocker, if so i would not have expected to get the above. Since my CPU temps are so low, should i just keep pushing it? my concern hear is if i up the vcore volts i will need to up the chipset volts and if i up them my Musfit thingies / PWMIC will get hotter, i currently have a heatsink on it and dual 120mm @ 7v blowing over the board from my dual rad that is on the front of my case. How high should i push the voltages on the CPU, the max on the board is 2.108v. I have tried multi of 10.5 Memory suffers and i have tried x 11 but cant get it stable so looks like i can only keep pushing the FSB.
  8. Could be that your CD drive is screwed, have you tried it in another machine ? or changed the ide setting from slave to master or primary to secondry?
  9. Have u tried unplugging everything apart from Mem, CPU and VGA and both PSU connectors to the board. EVERYTHING. including the speaker, reset cables etc. Then only plug in to the board PS2 K/board and Moniter cable, make sure all USB cables are out etc. So you have the bare minumum to boot with, if you have any PCI cards in Also take them out. Then reset Cmos and load optimised and se if that works, i suspect you have a dodgy device somewhere. If that does not work then i would RMA the board for another DFI.
  10. IMPO, i would always go for the new bios, i have the new one and i did see a serious difference in stability. I seriosly doubt the Keyboard has anything to do with it though.
  11. i think you have just been unlucky, rest assured it is not the DFI board that is the problem, it is the new chipset/cpu, i have had Abit, asus and gigabyte boards and evey board has had some sort of problem untill i got new hardware, i.e. some cd drives as slaves, some ide drives as master, memory in wrong slots or wrong type, power supply wrong or not stable. Dont know why but taking them off or replacing them which i done works. COnspiracy to get us to upgrade all our hardware i think. LOL Anyway i have settled on the DFIT NF 250 as it is far superior to the other boards for overclocking and stabilty, I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE.
  12. Hi, can u let us know the following: Is the board in your cases? what cooling have you got on your CPU? I had this problem it was due to the board warping when i put my waterblock on tight but with out a back plate, i had serious warping of the board next to the CPU, workied ok out of the case but when i screwed it down it must short one of the traces or something preventing the board from powering properly. Try releasing the screws next to the cpu and mem and wiggle the board a bit while the power is on untill the light comes on this will prove the theory. Good luck, i almost RMA's my board until i tried all that, Hey still say it is the best board i have ever had, i just cant seem to break it. LOL.
  13. One Heatsink coming up, i have a water block on mine so have plenty clearance.
  14. well spotted that man, thats y my fans dropped my temps, strange place to have a sensor though, what is it suppose to monitor there? there is a chip under it wonder what that is? and wether a heatsink on it would stop it getting so hot. i thought it was the thingis cause burnt a hole in the foam protective packaging it came in the lst time it got really hot DOH!
  15. Hi, it monitors the temperatire of the musfit thingies in between teh CPU and the back panel that contains the parrelel ports, usb etc. mines get very hot and have had to put a fan blowing over them to get the temps down.
