  1. OK switching to a new ASUS motherboard. Bye bye DFI forever!!
  2. Not even 30 days later and RAM is dead again. Both sticks just died on me again. Dman motherboard is frying my RAM. Just browsing adobe.com when PC freezes and when I try to turn back on it beeps with me with C1 code. I tried booting with just one sick in each slot and same thing. Same thing as last time. BIOS settings are set correctly as the manufacture has listed. This is really . me off. Dont have any more RAM to test with and dont really want to risk it. Now I am going to have to take it to local PC shop and pay even more $$$ now to have it all checked out. More than I can do. Really sucks, never buying DFI product again...
  3. I love my Linksys WRT54GS. Been up and running fine for 15 days now. Running with DD-WRT v24 RC-1 (08/22/07) micro firmware.
  4. Perhaps DDR3 is not that much of an improvement right now but it sure will be. I am running the fastest DDR 2 RAM, PC 9600, I could find. So seems I am maxed out, nothing to upgrade to in the future. DDR3 of course means you have a lot more room for improvement. Yes I have VC in the top slot and yes it is very very close to the chipset and the RAM, no real room for anything. And if I where to add a second one for SLI then I would have to remove two IDE drives I currently have in just for backup. Since it blocks the trays.... But everything works great as is and temps. are just fine.
  5. Hi, I'd wait to buy at the moment. Right now your buying "old" technology. I'd wait for the new AMD processors that are quad core and that support DDR 3 RAM. That is AMD Phenom: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/Virtual...~117412,00.html Or perhaps wait for Intel's Penryn which is now due out on November 12, 2007. See: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel...doc.aspx?i=3105 And if you still want this "old" stuff then that too would be the time to buy. Prices will drop like crazy. Take Care, Will
  6. TWC is only broadband ISP here in Columbia, SC as well. Costs me $75 a month for 8mbps/768kbps. Use to be that but now it has really started to suck lately and they are bandwidth shaping heavy users. For example I rarely get above 30KB/s for torrents and news groups. When just a month ago it would alway be above 900KB/s. Normal browsing is not effected. So yeah when I do a speed test you get around what you are paying for but when doing any type of p2p it is very very slow. Just the p2p that is, web browsing remains fast. I believe they are using the same crappy software solution that comcast is. They are sending the same drop packets. And again only really heavy users seem to be effected. TWC claims they are doing no such thing and that they only monitor usage and that you should only get slightly slower speeds during heavy usage periods. They are full of it!!!
  7. Right, having to pay to play a beta. No thanks!!!
  8. I've only fried a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ CPU. Not really my fault though, turned out to be a bad heatsink. Was one of the very first released and thankfully AMD sent me a new one...
  9. Same momoceio, I hate interlaced crap! Deinterlacing still blows!
  10. 1.6 beta is out by the way: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=681495
  11. Well, I got a refund because newegg says they are out. Anyways, thinking about grabbing this to replace it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820220241 Any thoughts?
  12. 2.1 like it says directly on the sticks and great.... newegg got it for RMA but now it shows up as Out of Stock... ant that a bitc*
  13. Well one stick of my G.Skill RAM just died today. Already! I've only had it since 1/3/2007 8:30:13 PM.
  14. RTM and Retail are the same exact build! There are no differences. It is exactly the same. Bit for bit! Just to be clear! Retail just means it's sold at a store. That's all! RTM just means that build is the official build of the software. So Vista RTM and Retail are both Windows Vista build 6000. A pre RTM build would be a lower build number. Such as the beta and RC releases.
