  1. You gotta force it to hold that 21x multi in the BIOS. I forget how exactly to do it. I'm pretty sure my RIIG is making my chip look good, but it could just be a good match.
  2. That's pretty awesome. I had to bump the voltage up a bit to make it stable at 4.4GHz. I'm gonna take a look at it today, see if I can get closer to 4.5Ghz. I was also gonna try to lower the multi to 19 and go for a higher Bclk and see how far my Gene can go.
  3. Well, I hit 4.4 on my 920, volts don't look too shabby. Here's the validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=981474 I think I need to knock the RAM timings down a little bit to keep going because it doesn't like to run SuperPi 32m. I'm looking at some DDR3-2000 kits so I can raise my Bclk more. Should I try for 4.5 or 4.6 on air? Temps are going to around 60c or so if I remember correctly under Prime95. Also, any recommendations for some DDR3-2000 kits? I've been trying to find some Hyper kits without spending 450 bucks.
  4. I made the trek for 3 hours to grab one from the Boston store a while back. Good thing the store was almost closing when I got there, otherwise I would have walked out with WAY more than my proc and 6GB of OCZ goodness.
  5. I've watched it like 5 times already, never can get enough lego action. Craziest part is how well they layered the agent's movements.
  6. Alrighty, I just pieced this machine together, don't say anything about parts, it was a frankenstein job with my old parts and my friend's old parts Her parts: Intel P4 3.0GHz with HT Skt 775 random video card some OEM Hipro 300w PSU WD Blue 320GB with Windows XP My parts: 2GB of DDR2-800 Asus P5N32-E SLI Now I have started it up a few times and every time, it posts fine, and just restarts while loading Windows at the same point. Would it be something as simple as a Windows reinstall or something else, considering the only parts I really swapped were the motherboard and RAM?
  7. Got a question for you guys in my quest for speed, when does one start to change the CPU PLL and/or the QPI/DRAM voltage? I've been leaving it on auto and was just curious as to whether changing those around a tad would net me any more stability? Trying to find more info on the subject atm as well.
  8. I don't like overclocking software either, all BIOS, all the time for me. Got a last validation for the night, 21x200, 1.312v at idle. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=803937 Gonna see what I can do in the upcoming weeks, should be fun
  9. It's on air, got a Megahalems with 2 Scythe 1900rpm fans on it. I've been running LinX to check temps on it, 20 passes. I think once I get better feel for this stuff I'll try out a Prime run or something. It passes wPrime 1024m at 205x20 at 1.33v atm. I probably set the voltage too high, think I'll try to lock multi at 21 and lower the BCLK and see if I can drop some voltage.
  10. Well, that was some unexpected news Think I'm gonna poke around the BIOS and stuff a bit more, see what I can get away with.
  11. Well, I picked up a Core i7 920 and decided to go to work on it. After a day of sifting through the bios of my Rampage II Gene, I've got this so far. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=803768 Temps are around 65C under LinX. Strange things I've noticed is that the voltage creeps up a tad even though I set it manually at 1.27v and the 4th core tends to be 4C lower than the others. Any tips or anything to bump it up a little higher are appreciated
  12. Oddly enough, a friend of mine and I were talking about Kingdom Hearts vs. Capcom too.... Pretty sure every MvC fan had the same thoughts over the last couple days
  13. Well, it isn't OCd anymore, if it was, I'd have played with the voltages and other stuff like I usually do. It was just weird that I was getting BSODs left and right just gaming. So I ran prime95 blend, second thread died, figured it was my 720 but after running the small FFT test and 2 cores threw an error. So I freaked a bit, ran Memtest overnight and saw that it had an error. I knocked the speed down on my RAM, kept it at stock voltage and it hasn't had a problem since. I'm gonna run another few tests tonight, but I'm thinking its the RAM atm.
  14. Right now I'm running my RAM at a slower speed with tighter timings, seems to be working in the meantime until I can order some new RAM
