  1. You're still not telling us how. This basically just says "use ati tool" lol Can you explain exactly what to do to manually overclock using it?
  2. Okay, So I'm at 3.3. I'm just below 1.3 vCore. I dont care to go any higher. But I want that 1:1 ratio. CPU-Z says: RAM Size : 2048 MB RAM Freq : 390.6 MHz RAM Type : DDR2-SDRAM Dual Channel RAM Ratio : 16:15 RAM Timings : 4-4-4-12 My RAM is running 800. What should I bump it to. It's Patriot eXtreme ddr2 800 pc2 6400 Will this OC harm my system long term? Or should I turn things down a notch? BTW, what is stock vCore for e6600?
  3. hell yah, I'm AMAZED! Now its time to go OC to 5Ghz! haha jk. ...Oh yah, 1 more thing. The heatsink I got is practically silent. I barely hear the fan running. Highly recommended.
  4. Holy crap I just stuck this heatsink on and my idle temperatures easily went down 12c (23)! The highest temp i've seen cpu spike to during load (in orthos) was 44!!! I can't believe the difference this made. http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=177650 vCore @ 1.24 (Stable in orthos) Well it took a few hours of reading but I think I finally understand this overclocking biz...
  5. Well i went by the advice of some people from a few forums and I went with the HIS Hightech X1650XT. Hope its good for the measly $110 I pay (after rebate).
  6. It was Ableton 6 + latest update I was testing VST loads in... My main DAW apps utilize dual core. Dunno bout Cubase 4... Haven't used it since SX2. As far as I know every major audio software company is gearing their versions toward dual core. hardnrg, You're probably right about me wasting my time OC'ing b4 my Noctua comes in but i cant help it haha. I'm just trying to learn right now. I'll be busy the next couple days so I wont have as much research time.
  7. Yup.. as stated in the first line of the very first post Noctua NH-U12 in the mail (should be here tomorrow). I guess I'll hold off on things for today.
  8. I know enough to know how not to damage anything. I'm grasping the basics but when it comes to things like figuring out how to get that 1:1 ratio without sacrificing the performance of my ram I am a little lost. Hey when I run ORTHOS is gets to about 66c. Is is okay to leave it hot like this for the durations i have ORTHOS running?
  9. Kewl. I will check out orthos... here's what CPU-Z says about my system now... http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=177338 EDIT: Okay I just ran orthos for 10 minutes and there were no errors. My CPU was at 66c though so I stopped it. i think that might have been too high. I couldnt find any instructions for orthos.
  10. It was an accident. You replied b4 I was done fixing it. Sorry. I changed my voltage from 1.4 down to 1.2 and it made a huge change. I raised FSB up a bit now im at 3.01. My FDB DRAM ratio is now 11:13 (what does this mean) It should be 1:1. Is 11:13okay? I ran OCCT (dunno if it's meant for 2 core systems) It finished the test fine. System appears stable.
  11. But it seems wrong that im getting 50c@ only half cpu usage... I will download that program now but im afraid the loads will be way to high. is it safe?
  12. This is with the stock HSF and Antec 900 case. I have a Noctua NH-U12F in the mail... any thoughts? I've never overclocked so I feel a little shakey... There's no way I can do my CPU intense audiowork with these kind of temperatures. So I must be doing something wrong, yah? E6600 at only 2.8 with stock HSF shouldnt run so hot. Goes easily to a steady 50c when working in my music production sequencer (with only 50% cpu usage).
  13. THANK you very much for the replies I have looked deep into all mentioned but still no luck! Since it happens every single time at exactly 34 minutes left and at the same part of "installing devices" I have ruled out the heating spike theory. I did notice a change when I tried to install an xp pro disc with XP pro sp1 (not sp2 this time). I get a different bluescreen and this time after formatting the drive and getting everything ready to reboot into the install screen I get a new Stop: 0x0000007b (0xf7c7a63c,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) bluescreen right after the blaxk windows xp screen loads. Changing these discs seems to be the only thing that has made any detectable difference so far out of everything I've tried...
  14. Just put together everything... asus p5n-e e6600 2x1GB patriot extreme Tried installing windows about 98698734234096 times. I keep getting a bluescreen more than halfway through (about 75% of installing devices step to be exact). The BSOD message is "DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" I have no idea what to do. I just spent soooo much money on an entirely new system and I cant even get windows to install! Initially it sounded like ram but after tinkering I dont think it is. Then again I'm still somewhat a noobie. I ran memtest (everything seems okay) I took one stick out, tried moving them to new slots, etc... My ram is 2.2v I tried setting ram voltage to about 2.2 in asus p5ne bios (rather than auto) and still nothing. Any ideas?
  15. This might sound silly but do you need the retention brackets for 775 on the xp-90C? Im not sure if there's any difference other than just the fact c stands for copper. I will have really good airflow with my antec 900. Will this fit? Will it really make a difference for my e6600 clocked to 3.2 compared to it's stock heatsink. If I do get a heatsink it needs to be one of the smaller ones for my case and I dont want to spend the money unless the gain is significant. Hmmm, what about Silverstone NT-06?
