  1. I'm try to overclock my CPU, using the manual settings in the BIOS, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. The highest I can set my CPU FSB is 222, before my system will not boot xp, this is with my CPU Multiplier set X9 and my CPU Volt set at 1.4, my Hyper Trans Freq is set at X3., my DRAM Ratio Has been dropped to DDR200 1:2 from DDR400 1:1 I've also set my PCI Clock Synch at 33.33 to try and keep it stable. could someone please tell me were I'm going wrong. What should be the speed I should expect from this MOBO and CPU. Any help will be very much appreciated. My system is as follows: Gigabyte 3DAurora case Tagan TG480-U22 PSU Gigabyte G-power Pro HSF ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe AMD Athlon64 3000+ Corsair TwinX PC3200c2Pro (512mbx2) XFX Geforce6800GS XXXEdtion
  2. thanks for your quick reply, I'll give that a go
  3. I wounder if some one can help me. I've just built my first system, and have used the asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard. I'm using windows xp home OS, and I am trying to lean how to check if I have the most up to date chipset drivers loaded, but I feel out of my depth when I,m trying to use the asus web site. Can anyone tell me how to check which version I have at the minute. I have loaded the ones that came on the support cd, and I looked at the files on the cd and in the driver chipset folder for nforce winxp it says that the drivers are: smbus driver 4.45 (whql) with updated uninstaller files installer version 4.78 the winxp ide sata_ide driver is version 5.34 (whql) audio is 4.62 (whql) ethernet nrm driver is 4.51 My BIOS version is 1015. Windows seems to be running ok, so should I leave it as it is? or is it important to always have the most up to date chipset drivers and BIOS loaded. also what does (whql) mean? If anyone could help could you please explaine in simple turns, as this is all new to me. Thank you
  4. Hi. I've build a new system, and was woundering the best way to partiton my 250 gb hdd. What I had in mind was to have the operating system on one partition on it's own. Then maybe have another two or three partitions for software, files and backup. Also will all the software drivers that come with my peripheras have to be loaded on to the same partiton as my operating system. My OS will be windows xp home.
  5. The RAM i'm using is pc2100. I thought may have tried to do too much in one go. I shall just try moving the cpu clock up a little instead of pushing it up to the max setting. After doing a little more reading on overclocking I was beging to think along the lines you've commented on. This was just a test run to see if I had any results. I'm building my son a pc for xmas so I thought i'd try and get the feel of how to overclock on my old system. I'm going to use a ASUS A8NSLI Deluxe with a Athlon 64 3200+ cpu and 1GB of good quality RAM and Dual PCI-E Graphic cards, and from what I've read, it's a good MB to overclock. What do you think? Many thanks for your reply to my problem.
