Amazing Password Generator Of Doom!!!!

29 November 2008 - 04:13 PM

Hey occ, long time no see. anyways, I decided to try my hand at scripting and came up with this. I know there are probably better implementations than this
and that the code could be better, but its my first real script. It's open source beerware, so feel free to do what you want with it.
It's in bash, requires ascii2binary installed and sha512sum. I have only tried this out in ubuntu 8.10, so I cant make any promises.
It makes some really good passwords though. put -h as an argument and it will show all the different things you can do with it.
It reliably makes the same password over and over as long as the salt file, the number of the characters and the key ( a short phrase) are the same.

Here are some examples in action
[email protected]:~$ apgod-v.1
Please enter the character length of the password required
63
Please enter your password key
a good wpa password

Please remember to clear clipboard if you copy and paste your password
Here it is again, in case echoing individual chars messed up

Broken Tv/dvd Combo

22 July 2008 - 05:08 PM

So a friend asked me to look at her tv/dvd combo piece of crap. Short version is I got it apart and the motor that spins the dvd sounds like its spinning but I can see the spindle is definitely not spinning, its not locked up either, I can move it with my hand. And, I don't know how to fix that, and I aint ordering a new motor to solder in, it aint worth that much work for a possibly maybe fix. So, I was wondering if anyone here knew any neat tricks, magic phrases, or a recipe for electronic holy water that might fix this. I told her what was broke and she somehow is convinced I can still fix this.... So I said I'd do some research and see if I can find out how, otherwise, not happening. So, this is me doing research. Thanks.

filled drive 3gb past max capacity

07 January 2008 - 03:29 PM

well here is something I have never done before. I was bored so I figured I would write a bunch of random 1's and 0's to my secondary hard drive and here is what happened.

> sudo dd if=/dev/random of=/uno/random

/uno: write failed, filesystem is full
dd: /uno/random: No space left on device

by the way during that whitespace after the password prompt is probably about a half hour. Oh and the drive was completely empty beforehand. I checked. Oh and I copied most of this over, the terminal I was using wouldn't support copy and paste, hopefully there are no spelling errors. Anyways, just thought I would share this with yall. I think its funny.

Happy Boxing Day

26 December 2007 - 09:58 AM

Happy Boxing Day to all our British members and those of us lucky enough to have British friends who live nearby and invite us Americans over for lots of food. In about a half hour I'm about to head on over to a friends house and grab some food and then maybe head to the theatre to see a movie. So what do yall do over in england for boxing day?

stumbled onto a cool wallpaper site

25 December 2007 - 04:48 PM

I was looking for some cool wallpapers seeing as how I formatted once again without backing up.... so, I found this site http://www.socwall.com/ from what I gather everything is ranked based off of votes and the minimum entry size is 1280x1024 with widescreen and dual monitor categories. After looking for a few minutes I decided to just download the torrent packs and figured some others might be interested. I'll probably stay and seed them through the night in case anybody wants them at a better speed than what I'm getting, avg of 20kb/s.
