well my 265 GTX busted not long ago and I'm looking for a replacement card until I build a new rig in 8-10 months. Anyway, I'm looking at order a 6950 and flashing it to a 6970, is there anything I should know about this? System rundown: 6 gigs RAM i7 940 currently not overclocked at 2.93 8800 GTS 640MB ASUS p6t intel x58 chipset MOBO Also considering the 570 but its a little more than I'd like to spend. Tried that and still no luck... IE works and internet connection options are at the defualt setting.

Well I tried to reinstall it and now when I try to start steam it attempts to update before giving me a message saying steam.exe could not luanch before being connected to the internet. Thanks for the replies and the help guys.

Just moved to a new place with DSL today (Miss my fiber connection already), and steam refuses to connect. I've tried turing off my firewall, bypassing the router, restarting the modem and router, and I Tried Launching Steam using TCP but have had no luck. Verizon is my ISP btw. Thanks for any input.

He has a 2.8 Ghz (I think?) Core2Duo, a Quadro FX1700, and 3 gigs of RAM. But hes not looking to replace the computer, he wants one at his office and one in his shop.

Well he says he tried to install it on vista 64 with no luck, but apparently he is using some other software in conjunction with SolidWorks 2008 that won;t run on a 64 bit OS. i forgot to factor in video memory. Maybe 3 GB of RAM along side a Quadro FX3800 1GB. This still comes to around $2000 this is starting to look like a big waste of money. Thanks for your guys replies.

Yeah, He already has the software, apparently his version won't run on a 64 bit OS (I don't know why, just what he tells me). I'm sure he wouldn't mind spending less than 2300 though

Hey everyone, My boss has asked me to build him a new comp for SolidWorks 2008, it will have to run 32 bit xp pro. Anyway I'm just trying to get an idea of what some reasonable specs would be. I'm thinking either a Quadro FX or an ATI FirePro card, an i7 cpu, and 3GB of ram. His budget is $2300, if anyone has any suggestions regarding workstation GPUs or any other advice I'd love to hear it. Thanks
