  1. You'll get by cheaper with an Opteron 185. Same specsspeed as the FX-60 just the multiplier is locked from going up. I am running one now and am easily oc'd to 3.015GHz.
  2. Is the card registered with eVga for the lifetime warranty? If it is and you wouldn't mind allowing the account to come along with the card, I will take the 7950GT KO SC. After I make the purchase just share the login and password to the account so I can go in and input me name address phone & email. Lifetime warranty stays in tact this way. An eVga technician shared this information with me last year when I decided to give Crossfire a shot & was selling my eVga cards.. Then about eight months later one of the buyers sends me an email telling me he had to RMA his card and all went well. So if it is already registered to an account on eVga's web site, and if you wouldn't mind allowing the account to come along with the card so I can keep its lifetime warranty intact, I will take it for $185 shipped. Just PM me here. I will check back often.
  3. Not sure about that. I went from an X2 3800 to an Opty 185 & am running at 3.15GHz. My X2 3800 would never get that high, not even close. Of course I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to oc'ing, hehe.
  4. Well I must say this is the finest board, along with a DFI SLI-DR I owned before I got into a CF setup, that I have ever owned. I has done everything I have asked of it. The bios isn't all that complicated once you get in there and work with trying different settings. And when I would go to far with it, CMOS Reloaded took me right back to where I wanted to be as far as bios settings go. Imho, the 939-pin mobo doesn't get any better than this. And I can't wait to move on to another socket next year because I am definitely going with one of its' sister boards.
  5. I think that is a good decision. I ran 7950 GT's in SLI before I went with two 7900GTX's. They really performed well. But the 7900GTX's really smoked them. A friend just picked up another 7900GTX from a seller on eBay for $160 to run in SLI with the 7900GTX he already had. You can get some good deals from people selling their 79** series cards in order to upgrade to the 8800 series.
  6. Finding a 939-pin Crossfire mobo isn't a problem if you have the $$$ to make the purchase. If you would like I can find a few and post links for you to check out. But, the mobo you have is considered too many to be the best 939-pin mobo ever produced. I owned a DFI SLI-DR for over a year. And I would have to agree, although I am loving my current DFI CFX3200 at the moment. But you should consider taking advantage of your current mobo and running a couple of nVidia card in SLI. I ran two 7900GTX's on my DFI SLI-DR when I was running it. I made the switch to Crossfire and am now running two X1900XT's in a CF configuration. Like you, I am an ATI m8 also. But I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed the performance & stability of those two nVidia cards in SLI. And between the two ATI & nVidia in a dual gpu configuration, I see know advantage of one over the other. Do you want me to link some 939-pin Crossfire mobos in this thread for you to check out?
  7. Yea, if I ever have issues with my bios, I always leave the jumper off overnight. Seems to have worked every time. But if there are steps for a long clearing of the CMOS, I would like to see those myself.
  8. Have you checked your connection between your monitor & your video card. It may be worth reconnecting and making sure the connections on both ends are good-n-tight. You can also try uninstalling & reinstalling your video cards drivers. Make sure you do it properly. Here is the nVidia Tweakguide that will tell you the steps on how to properly uninstallreinstall forceware drivers. http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html And if that fails to help you can try moving your graphics card to the other PCI-E slot. You may be able to get by without having to uninstall & reinstalling your drivers if you give this a shot by shutting down your rig & if your PSU has a switch on the back of it for turning it on & off, after you shut your rig down make sure you turn it off. Then push the power on button like you were trying to start your computer. This discharges any electricity that may be left over in the capacitors on your motherboard. If your PSU does not have a switch, after you shut your rig down, just unplug it from the wall & push the power on button on the computer for the same reasons above. Then move your graphics card from one PCI-E slot to the other. If you are lucky your video cards drivers will not be affected. I know I was able to remove and reinstall my nVidia cards using the above method several times without having to fool with uninstallingreinstalling the drivers. That's about all I can think of trying for troubleshooting your problem.

  10. No sir, afraid not. Although it would be nice for the consumer if mobo manufacturers could release a universal board that wouldcould use either make of card. I just switched from two 7900GTX's in SLI using a DFL SLI-DR to two X1900XT's in Crossfire. But in order to do so I had to purchase a Crossfire enabled mobo. So it is just more expense on the consumer, us, to want to make a change of dual gpus. I hope in the future one mobo can handle either nVidia in SLI or ATI in Crossfire.

  12. I just went from SLI to a single X1900XTX. Yet I forgot to switch the jumpers under the first PCI-E slot back for a single card configuration. The X1900XTX runs fine. Bench marks in my game and in 3DMark benchies all bear out great. So my question is this....Is there anything detrimental that could happen to my mobo by running a single card even though the switch is set for dual cards? I am disabled and with my water cooling loop, it was such a chore for me to make this change. Took me nearly 6 solid hours going at my snails pace and increased my back pain 4-fold. Thanks!

When nVidia finally gets off it rear end and releases a suitable driver for the 8800 series, you and everyone else that are complaining with issues with this card will finally get what you paid for. Never in my life did I think I would actually see a company with a customer base like it has continue to release cards three months or longer before they release decent drivers for a particular card. With every new nVidia release over the last year, for the first few months all you heardhear out of people that purchases them is how screwed up and how their new high end cards don't perform or work like they should. Nuts.
  14. Until nVidia releases a driver suitable for the 8800 series, we will not know just how well these cards will perform. I have never understood nVidia. They release cards long before they optimize drivers for them. I remember when the 7950 was released. All I read was how everyones high dollar single slot SLI wasn't working properly. Now, three months after the fact, they finally get a decent driver to run these cards. If nVidia would put as much effort into their driver program as ATI does, without a doubt they would run ATI out of business, or close to it. But this fact alone has me going back to ATI when they release their new DX10 card. Sad part about that is that I won't be able to resell these two 7900GT KO SC's. Already tried that on eBay last month. Had them listed separately for $170 each. They oc to GTX speeds and run fantastically. But after two weeks, I gave up. I guess I will just keep them as backups.
