Ram cooling mods..Post yours here..

Ive seen many people asking how to cool their ram.. So I figured I would post how I cool mine.. If anyone else would like to share how they cool their ram post here this way we can have one thread with everyones ram cooling..

I dont use this 24-7.. But when im benching or running my rig at max speeds its always cooling my ram.. Doesnt matter tccdtcc5 or bh5..

I took two 80mm fans (Panaflo 39cfm each) and hotglued them together .. Then hotglued a "L" bracket in between the two fans.. The "L" bracket just happens to wedge in between my psu and a brace from my stacker case.. The hot glue looks ugly but once its installed you dont see that part..

I even sleeved the wire..

Here is the ugly top.. But who cares it cools my ram real good and I dont see it ..

Plently of room for two 80mm fans..hehe

In they go..

I put a little tape on the "L" bracket this way it doesnt scratch my sexy psu..

Man that is freaking genius, especially for someone who has a stacker like me :)

I even have some old panaflos lying around....a trip to the hardware stor I be making this weekend...great work man. It may not fit though cuz I have an xp-120....will have to measure.

I know it hasn't been long but I thought I'd ask....what happened to the Sandy?

Edit: Do my eyes deceive me or is that a 120mm fan you have on top? How'd you do that mod?

Yeah, with that kinda case that is nice indeed. But when i don't have that kinda ability to attach the fans... :) Must invent something clever. By the way, on how much RPM do you run those fans? Noisy or not?

No your eyes are fine..hehe..Check out this thread..

I think my sandy's mem controller is dead.. Im waiting for a venice that I bought so I can test to see if a new cpu fixes my problem..

Yes its very roomy.. But maybe this will get some peoples imagination flowing..

Is it noisy..?

Well I have 4x 120mm fans.. 1x 92mm tornado.. and the 2x 80mm fans for the ram..lol.. I cant hear them over everything else..

Simular to the one i use. I will try to get me some pics later tday.

[edit] was reading your other "case" topic THunDA, you can actually clear CMOS using the switch instead of moving the jumper? If thats the case im very interested in how, with me new case i can barely reach the jumper with me HDD's in.

Cheers

LOL tin snips....sometimes it really just is that simple....did you have to do any mods to the psu bracket/holder thingy as well?

I'm on a mission to get all of the crappy 80mm fans out of this case....its the only complaint I have about the stacker. How do you put 120mm fans in the front and back and then 80mm fans on the top and side....screwed the pooch on that one.

Now that they have a black windowed side panel, I'm gonna order one and cut a 120mm (or two, maybe) hole for video card cooling....then, I think I will be satisfied....

Until I think of something else to do

hehehe, great minds think alike THunDA.

I found a bracket/fan holder that holds 2x80mm. Actually designed for mounting above the PCI slots. I replaced the standard fans with coolermaster Blue LED models. and then I use 3M #4011 Exterior mounting tape to secure the assembly to the bottomof the PSU. Gotta pull real hard to get it off but no screw holes or blemishs occur. Does a great job of cooling the Vdimm MOSFET as well.

between the 92mm fan and it's overhang on the XP-90 and the 2x80mm the area is very kewl.

I'll see if I can find it on line for ya.

It may be illegal in Canada

Ok, found it on line http://www.halted.com/ccp17087-acce--dual-...f-8b-cap107.htm

it's a metal bracket and I paid $ 15 for it with the black fans. THunDa's suggestion for hot gluing them together and then maybe a 25mm wide piece if plastic or steel would work as well. The 3M tape #4010 is clear double sided and holds 2 pounds, the #4011 is grey double sided and holds up to 5 pounds. I use it to keep the internal LCD monitor in place as well.

Let me know if you need more details. I may have a couple (sans fans) available in the "soundx98 big box O' nerdy stuff".

Yup.. I havent used it lately but I still have it..

If I have time tonight I'll write up a little how to for it..

LOL tin snips....sometimes it really just is that simple....did you have to do any mods to the psu bracket/holder thingy as well?

Hey tin snips work well.. I used some door edge molding to cover the ruff edges up.. At first it didnt want to bend into a circle.. But nothing heating it up with a lighter didnt fix..hehe

All I had to do was bend the top part of the psu bracket to make room for the 120mm fan.. Took about 2 min's.. very easy..

its the only complaint I have about the stacker. How do you put 120mm fans in the front and back and then 80mm fans on the top and side....screwed the pooch on that one.

I so agree.. That 80mm in the top was yanked out pretty quick.. I also dont like the side door vent, I'd rather it be solid so I can cut holes in it.. I might end up modding it with a custom window but havent had time lately..

hehehe, great minds think alike THunDA.

Thats awsome.. your looks like the same but more colorfull.. :shake:
