Do memory timings effect CPU overclock?

I'm having trouble getting over 2.4GHz with my Venice - although I can get 2.4GHz Prime stable (19 hours), 2.5GHz is a no no.

Do the memory timings have a direct effect on CPU overclock? If I relax timings can it have an effect on how high the CPU will go?

I currently run 240x10, 1:1, 2-2-6-2-full timings in sig.

When I attempt 250x10, I knock the divider down to 9:10 (227MHz RAM), but keep the same timings. I can't test it right now, but could the timings of the RAM (even at just 227MHz) be my downfall?

Memtest is fine at 250x10, 10:9. I have tried upping the vcore, but even >1.6v doesn't help.

What I was asking was whether timings had a direct effect on the CPU, regardless of RAM MHz, vcore, vdimm etc.

As the memory controller is on the CPU, that's why I wondered whether it had an impact.

I'm in the same boat you are, I can't go above 2400 Mhz even if I raise the vcore. I can pass memtest @ 250 FSB, but when I get into Windows it either locks up or reboots on me. I've tried a ton of different settings including putting the RAM on a divider and relaxing the timings. I'm starting to think I just got a bad overclocker.

Not that this helps with the venice, but I have been extremely unsuccesful getting my winnie 3200 into 250+ at 10. I have not been able to break out of 2.44 range and was told that the winnies have tought time exceeding that. Maybe same concept with venice, except it seems people are reach 2.7.
