kev182 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 What is the best 875B bios. On the bios download page for this board there is a newer one, is it any better or is this the best one? Someone told me this is the best for ocing
stevez Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 The release of a new BIOS generally addresses specific issues or provides new functionality for a mainboard. The newer BIOS for your board gives support to specific CPUs. Your 2.6C is not one of those. Therefore you shouldn't notice any difference if you were to flash your BIOS with this latest one. I'd stick with the one you have.
kev182 Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 does it fix the bug with pressys? An issue with this bios is anything abive 1.55 goes down to vcore below stock, but hey...you wouldnt really want more than 1.
stevez Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 No it doesn't. This was discussed in length on an earlier thread. Don't think there will be any move to correct the voltage for the earlier Prescotts due to the heat issue.
kev182 Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 so how is this BIOS different?
VectorTensor Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Unfortunatly Kev this board is no longer a topic of conversation at DFI, so no more issues will be looked at any more.. The volt drop problem is here to stay and will never be fixed with any bios in the future... Where stuck with what we have.... No_more_Color Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 But in comparison with a P4C800-E or a IC7, the vcore drop is not really a problem. On a P4C800-E the Vcore sways ~0.15V in connection with a Prescott, for example. Bad is imo the option of 1.55Vmax@Vcore (which results in real 1.5V@load) in connection with a Prescott-CPU  .
