ivanvt Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Quick question, Im using air cooling and during the testing process i move the voltage in my cpu to 1.76 Why is it that people say this voltage is too high for air cooling even if my cpu temp is at 48~50 fully load? loc.o Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 because it will do the same with 1,65/1,7v probably.
Fire-N-Ice Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I've heard people fry them at 1.7 volts. Maybe it was because theirs wasn't as good cooling, but most people can get the highest OC at less voltage than the 1.7. Right now I'm getting my highest OC at 1.325*110%=1.46, I've tried more volts but it doesn't help, and actually probably hurts because of the heat. Also- sometimes the readings in the bios, or software isn't very accurate. May read 1.76 but actually be a tenth higher or lower. Same thing with temp's. How you know your at only 50 under load? mack73 Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I'm with you ivanvt I MUST have my voltage above 1.6 to be stable at most overclocks. I can't even run stable at 2800 with anything less than 1.7v (max temp is 50c). I just run mine at 1.6v and 2750 (max temp 44) for everyday use
