OceanSeasforMe Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Are you sure its the NB fan ? Are You useing ITE smartguardian or Mbm5 ? (or even in the BIOS) you should be able to cycle the fan to different RPM's top see if it changes pitch. Please read this thread. *(post 8 specifically.) http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11307 Found via search on. Vladislav Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 When the machine is running put a finger on top of NB fan to stop it, if the noise stops you know where the problem is. If it's the fan you might need to buy a new one
ArcticSoldier Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...57&page=4&pp=15 alot of people just mod the chipset fan or use the 4th PCIE slot.
danskim Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Actually the sound just mysteriously ended. I have a new problem... my NB chipset temps seem a bit high at 43C. My CPU is at 29-30C. I am using the 4th PCI-E slot. Thanks for the replies earlier.

If you do, simply point a fan toward it inside the case to blow air at the video card / chipset fan. Also, if you are using smart guardian and have not adjusted the software to run the fan at full speed, then you may get higher temp readings.
