red930 Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Man, I have mine turned down to keep the dishes in the cabinets. Those things are serious bass generators. And you want more? lol Has any of u tguys wondered how you can improve bass frequency range on theses babsies by attaching a 12 inch sub....of mounting the built in amplifier to a subwoorfer box?? tristancarton Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 so true. i have mine sub on the first notch on the control panel (yes one tick from the far left) and only at 20 percent in the creative software volume control. though ex he may want more frequency range which doesn't always turn into louder bass. you just would feel bass lower than 30-40Hz. mug i have no idea how to do this seeing as the enclosure has a ten inch sub in it. the z-5500 has a twelve though i am not sure on the frequency range of this sub. red930 Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 To get much lower that the vented box Logitech uses you have to go to a folded horn enclosure which is much larger than most would want in a living room.
mugenoel Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 I mean that not use the original box....I meant to buy another enclosure for a single 12inch from companies such as JBL or JL audio......and then Modify the Unit to mount the Amplifier to the enclosure......well i wouldnt mind a big enclosure at all.. lowfat Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Definately seems like a lot of work to me. Personally I don't think it would be worth the time or cost.
red930 Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Not worth the time or effort. The amp and eq are designed for that driver in that enclosure. Once you change one element you've ruined the design. Just get two complete sets and hook them up in parallel with the analog inputs and a splitter. lol I mean that not use the original box....I meant to buy another enclosure for a single 12inch from companies such as JBL or JL audio......and then Modify the Unit to mount the Amplifier to the enclosure......well i wouldnt mind a big enclosure at all.. Infinity Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Or, tap the line for pre-amp signal, and run it to a different amp/sub combo. That would be simple. For a hellacious combo at a very good price, check out the Dayton Titanic sold at Partsexpress. It's VERY hard to beat the Titanic for the price they charge (without buying from e-bay). red930 Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Yeah, that Dayton Titanic is a great piece of work. They are tight clean and very powerful. I haven't used servo drivers in several years since finding the Dayton Titanic. A buddy of mine has eight, yes 8 of those in his home theater(the guy has more money than he knows what to do with it). When they guy from Meyer Sound came in to perform the final calibration of the sound system he about crapped his pants. I had performed the gross calibration when installing the sound system. From my years on the road, doing nightclub installations and setting up home theaters, I developed a pretty good ear for accurate sound. By the time Meyer Sound was done the room really sounded incredible. The guy said I had the crossover set within a 16th of an octave and the levels were all within 3db of his results. As good as it sounded before, he got the room practically perfect.

lowfat Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 If you upgrade, I would say go with a set of Klipsh 5.1 Ultras. Much better than the logitech speakers.
