bigl523 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 i had this problem too, check your boot order, put the one that u installed the os onto to boot first. my ide drives were booting before it was getting to my sata drive, changed the order and all was well. Guest chrisexv6 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 This sounds like what I used to get when the partition I installed to wasnt bootable. When you installed XP, did you have it reformat the partition/drive you were installing to (if you are going to try this MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUPS OF ANYTHING YOU NEED ON THAT PARTITION)? That should handle making it bootable. The fact you dont make it through the first reboot makes it seem like your partition isnt bootable for one reason or another. -Chris
Boppo Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 no, re-installed windows files but all i get is error loading operating system!!!!! for the love of god why??? What version of BIOS are you running? More info on the processor would probably help too.
Jadawin Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 same here, but with XP64. My XP32 is fine and so is Vista x64 Beta 1 (working in IT has it's privilidges).
pduan87 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Are you getting a flash of BSOD? Exact thing happening to me. I caught the error message of the BSOD and I got MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
Sharp Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Hello, In the BIOS standard CMOS setup, Change the Drive mode from AUTO to LBA. (You are using an IDE drive?) And let windows format the drive too.
pduan87 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Do you set the drives to LBA if they are SATA?
Sharp Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 That depends on the BIOS. If the BIOS does detect the sata drive in the Standard CMOS setup section, you should choose LBA too.
