EekPing Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I'm RMA my old ramm b/c it's just too much work and was hoping you guys could suggest some ramm that works well in the nf4. I want something under 200 bucks for a gig. In fact I'm thinking of just going w/ the corsair value. I won't overclock w/ it and won't buy more until I have everything working since I leave for school in 18 days. Basically it's down to time now, but plz suggest away. Also i'm a pansy and too scared to try and flash my bios so it needs to work well w/ 3/10/2005 Thank you.
MaxPow3r Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I had no problems running my memory with 2-2-2-5 timings @ 200 Mhz.
red930 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 In fact I'm thinking of just going w/ the corsair value There''s no sense in having to buy more headaches, there is a lot of ram around in that price range, http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...622&postcount=
EekPing Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 So corsair value probably could have problems as well? Is there a link to the "officially" supported ramm that DFI says they tested?
red930 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I'm sure there is an official ram list at the DFI web site, but I also think that the users in this forum that see ram trouble everyday are a better judge of what works. Corsiar ram=trouble prone Value ram=trouble prone Corsair value ram=@#$^%&$*ram on these MB's
RGone Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 So you know why I agree at least 100% with *playah*. These boards are out now nearly 1/2 year and any memory tested with "before" the boards even came out > is not up to date>outdated> and mostly useless. The modules that are affixed to the memory sticks themselve have been morphing hard and steady for nearly 5 months now and nothing is the same as it was before the boards were released and some memory testing done. That is as cut and dried as it gets. Users in here see the same old question day after day after day about memory and the sharp one's know from experience what is pretty current and in stock at many vendors. That is key to the whole thing for a 'good' experience. RGone...

EekPing Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Yeah I think it's me trying to figure out the Dual Channel stuff and it's just too complex for a n00b like me so I think I've descided to just go w/ a 1 gb stick of something. I'll price the OCZ Platinum at 1 gb. Has anybody had problems w/ single sticks of stuff at 1 gb?

EekPing Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Out of the reviews at newegg somesaid said they had to flash to 6.23 for it to work. Looks like I'll finally have to learn how to do that... Here's what the person said Works in DFI Lan Party NF4 UT Ultra-D "I put this in a DFI Lan Party UT nF4 Ultra-D mobo (03/10 BIOS) with Athlon 64 San Diego 3700+. More » I put this in a DFI Lan Party UT nF4 Ultra-D mobo (03/10 BIOS) with Athlon 64 San Diego 3700+. I placed the sticks in the DIMM2/DIMM4 orange slots for dual channel operation. Initially, this didn't work. I then removed one stick to revert to single channel operation. This worked, and I was able to install windows xp sp2 and boot up. I then rant memtest on each stick separately in single channel mode and they were OK. I then used winflash to update the BIOS to 06/23 from 03/10. I then put both memory sticks back in, and now it works. So, BIOS update fixed the problem."
