memory oveclocking question

Recommended Posts

I currently have my system oc. to the specs of my sig, and the only way for me to pass memtest (without spending days on it) was to change my ram timings from the rated 2-2-2-5 to 2-3-3-6. Everything seems to be stable, but I was just wondering if anyone can give me any tips on trying to get the memory back to the rated timings and at the same time, keep the overclock.

many times it's one or the other. I got lucky and was able to do both (OC and tighter timings). My personal preference is mhz over slighlty better timings, but that's me. With these boards/cpu's, CPU MHZ is what you really want, and is what will make everything run better. Things like memory mhz and timings only make a small difference, one that can usually only be seen in a benchmark, not real world apps. since you got this corsair to work and able to OC from 200 to 234mhz, I'd be happy with that. If you want to spend some time getting your system to OC higher, work on the cpu. Try whatever settings you have to (sometimes this means memory settings) in order to up the cpu mhz! Have you tried different multi's and HTT's to achieve higher cpu mhz? Even if this means running your ram slower it will be worth it (and if this is the case, then you could tighten the timings). have you tried 2-3-2-6?
