BloodMaster Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Hi all What is the max SAFE voltage this CPU can take - somewhere i see that everything above 1.5v will be danger and limit cpu life,so i want to try up to this (1.5v) for pusshing this monster up - ITS SAFE? Guest burningrave101 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd keep it at 1.55V or lower on aircooling or watercooling. Make sure temps dont go over 60C.
Speedyis300 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I have my volts at 1.64(1.55+113%) to be stable at 2.64ghz my idle is 34-35c and under load i am about 48-50..Now mind you my house has no A/C and its been at its lowest 80ish with high humiddity all summer..With a desk fan blowing straight into my case, i have an ambient of 31c and i have water cooling, which is nice, but stink with hot air flowing around.. Any I am slowly working on dropping the volts, but i don't think i will go much lower with then 1.64v..We will see though.. Speedyis300 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Oh BTW gaming does not put my X2 to full load..So during gaming my temps are like 38-41(41=Alot of gaming) Only time i get to 48-50 is with Dual prime running, or single prime and folding going on.. Dillweed Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 This is the first time I've overclocked anything, but for the record I have a X2 4400+ overclocked toto 2.6 ghz and the voltage at 1.375 + 110% . I've been prime stable for 8+ hours. The fans in my case don't seem to supply enough airflow so my temps sometimes get around 55-58C on full load, so I'm hesitant to supply more juice to the cpu. Anyways, I've been solid and have not had a single problem so far. (keeping fingers crossed, but I don't expect any problems.) Speedyis300 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Huh i will have to try that voltage and see if i can be stable there..i wouldnt think so but hey i will give it a shot.. Now are you using Dual prime? Cause if you not hten your only half stressing each core as they will both work on 1 instance of prime..So you might not be as stable as you think.. Just in case your not using 2 primes(you have to set the affinity check this link out.) X2 Dual Prime95 Testing
BloodMaster Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Hi all 241 * 11=2651mhz Right now im stable after 8 hours , 2 primes running (1 for each core) , with 1.425v on the MB and Smartguardian shows 1.390v on CPU . Max CPU temp on both cores loaded 100% after 1 hour 42/44 c Everything above 250 fsb i try (with cpu voltage up to 1.55v) its unstable Mem is running on 183 divider at 204 mhz 2.5/3/38 2.8v (Twinmos Ram pc3200 stock timmings 2.5/3/3/8 w Sticker ending: AADT PowerChip 5ns - 0.13nm ) My ram dont boot at 1/1 divider at 241 mhz even with 3.2 v Any1 with suggestions on MB settings to go upper with the ram?? sasquatch1313 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Likewise if you are curious, I am at 1.500V and running Prime stable at 2.70 Ghz. Motherboard settings in the OC Database if you would like to compare. Best of luck with your overclock.
Speedyis300 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Huh, i will have to try dropping my volts down and see, but i don't think both cores are stable any lower..
Dillweed Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Yes, I ran a dual prime according to that post. I know it is weird, however, if it it works don't fix it, eh?
