Wanna get 3.5v for RAM, PSU Rail or 4v Jumper???

Recommended Posts

Hi!!!

I´m planning to give my nice VXs some juice, right now I´m giving it them 3.4v using the 4v jumper of the DFI board. I was told that through this method the board and mosfets runs really hot ( i can tell), so maybe I can go with the Bigtoes Jumper mod of giving the Dimm the volts needed through the 3.3v adjustable PSU rail...

Asuming i´m going to give the ram 3.5v (maximum warranty accepts), I should run my psu 3.3v rail @3.6v, it´s that safe for all my other components??? It´s better than usign the 4v jumper ?

Besides all the components in my sig i have a Musketeer II and an aerocool gatewatch, 2x120 fans and 2x80 fans

Thanks for the help! :)

You have several options.

1) Use the 3.3V rail and you can only draw up to 3.2V for your ram

2) switch the jumper so you're drawing from the 5V rail, which allows you go up your RAM 4V

3) Hack the 3.3V rail and so can draw up to 4V

When you move jp17 jumper to be able to give ram up to 4v yr drawing power from 5v rail instead of 3,3.

I have two 92mm fans blowing over the dimms from 1 inch and a 120mm fan blowing over upper right corner mainboard.

1) That in the case I didnt have an adjustable 3.3v rail via PSU, which I have.. ;) , so the question would be if it´s safer to run the rail at 3.6v or to use the 4v jumper , to give 3.5v to the RAM

2) option number 2

3) sort of option number 1

Oh ok... didnt know that activating the 4v jumper would draw power from the 5v rail.... thanks! I´ll keep the rams cooled too... it seems it has lot of influence

Well... now this is getting weird.....

Yesterday I was playing with my DFI Ram settings to get them stable @250 (2-2-2-5),been using 2-2-3-5 till now...

IF i use the 3.3v rail mod to get 3.43v to the mem, I got memtest errors finishing Test #5

If i use the 4v jumper to give 3.43v , I dont get errors in test#5 , but yes on Test #8 after 1 o 2 passes... and sometimes in test 6 after 2 passes or so.... anyone have an explication to that??

Thanks!

With jumper trick, how high was 3,3v rail set when you where on 3,4? It should be at least 0.2 higer then you give mem. 5v rail is way more stable for me as well.

Whats your Tref set at? On higher volts ill get errors earlier if it aint at 1168.

My Tref its set at 1560 (200 3.9us), i will try running it at 1168, men I've never owned a RAM so picky than this one bfore....
