Seasonic 600w vs OCZ 600w

I feel inclined to add my personal/professional knowledge (respecfully, I might add) to this thread...

It seems as though there are many people who base their recommendations only on what they have experienced. This a good thing to a certain degree. When people fail to realize, or rationalize, that their experience with a product - without examining other evidence that may prove contrary - and post their forceful opinions on everyone else solely based on their experience, then it is a very sad day for others who wish to gain an overall perspective as to the function/reliability of stated product.

Jumping to the assumption that what works for you will absolutely work for another, and is the only way to go, has many pitfalls to the abstract logic used to come to that decision. Posting that a person 'has to get this item or that' based on limited, if any, research does not do good to the person the product is being recommended to. This kinda refers to the 'butt-u-me' post I did a few days ago...

Look, I am going to put this in straight talk...no matter how a person feels about a product doesn't mean diddly in my books unless it can be backed-up with multiple sources of verification. Unless the poster provides the necessary research criteria pertaining to their recommendation, I regard it as a singular entity...their sole experience with the product.

WoW, that might replace the Powmax as new egg's highest rated & most recommended PSU! :P

SLI PSU's:

PC P&C 510 Express/SLI

OCZ PowerStream 520W (1A less than nVidia recommends) or 600W

Enermax 535W (2A less than nVidia recommends) or 600W

Fortron/Sparkle 550W

nVidia recommends [email protected] for SLI.

I know that the OCZ PowerStream 520W runs just about any SLI rig without problems &

if fact Anandtech used the OCZ PS 520W for their SLI testing!

IMO the Enermax 535W with a combined [email protected] shouldn't have any problems either.

Non-SLI PSU's:

Enermax 485W or 495W

Fortron Blue Storm 500W

OCZ ModStream 520W

This is the new "A" list for PSU's as these have proven to give the best results with DFI N4 mobos.

I will be doing a complete update of the PSU guide when I get back on Tuesday.

Does this mean you will be taking those damn Antec® PSU's off of there? Seriously, should prolly do that. I've had this one the longest but don't mean nothin.

  • 4 weeks later...

I think it depends on what you're looking for. If you want a PSU for agressive overclocking, or ultra-stable SLI gaming, then the Powerstream is probably the better choice. If you're looking for an extreemly quiet PSU, which can still handle moderate overclocking and SLI gaming (possibly less stable than the Powerstream), then the Seasonic S12 is probably the better choice.
