Guest Shibby Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 LCD is okay, but most have a slow response time which sucks for gaming (do a search for 'ghosting'). For any real gaming, you'd need an LCD with a 12 ms or less response time (there's ones with 8 ms) to prevent ghosting. Or just get a CRT for way cheaper and spend the extra cash on another gig of ram

Guest Shibby Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Nice! To be 100% honest, I was just going by what I'd heard with the ghosting thing. 12 ms seems to have been a concensus on a 'safe' response time.

Thee is not safe best yet because the testing methods are not standardized. A 8 ms reported time might well be more equal to 30 from another brand. BTW I spent less on my 21 in than most do on there 17 inch LCD with absolutly no worries of gosting. If you have limited space LCD is a good option but realize that new is not always better. Frallan Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Nope if spae is a factor then LCD is the way to go. If not then a 20"-21" secondhand good CRT will rock everything else in the same priceclass.

I almost splurged on a 1600x1200 LCD monitor, but picked up a CRT for less than half the price... it's nice, but I miss the sharp text that LCDs give. Angry_Games Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 unfortunately this 915N does not have DVI connections, only an analog...but it is quite good (the DVI 19" Samsung was more money and only 25ms response which is not good enough because I do still game when I have time heh)
