DeathEvil Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I sold my pci-e card so I can get some money and buy 7800GTX. So meanwhile I borrow Ati 7000 PCI so I can do some work on computer. I plug it in and power up but nothing, I tried to clear CMOS but still nothing (monitor is not lighting up). on the left down corner where are the leds I see that it is starting with 4 red lights and goes to 3 then to 2 and then to 1 when it hangs. Fans, drives and everything is working tho. How can I fix this? please, I have some work to do and can't boot to windows

DeathEvil Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I cleaned the PCI slot:D it was probably full of dust because I never used it:D hey, the point is that now everything works:) hey playah, now I'm doing raid 0 (2X250GB SATA2 Hitachi drives) I used optimal stripe 64 and I'm now installing windows. Do you think I should format partitioons of 4 standard cluster size or 16 to get 4:1 ratio of stripe/cluster? Now I used optimal 64 stripe because before I tried 16k stripe and I couldn't boot to windows for some reason (using the newest raid driver from 6.66 package) Thanks
red930 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Iknow that 4:1 ratio seems to be recommended, but if you want the experts opinion, http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4177 Glad to see you got it solved
DeathEvil Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 just for the notice, I was not able boot into windows either with 16/4 or 64/4 with newest raid driver from 6.66. The newest driver from DFi website fixed it and now I'm running 16/4 no problem. Now I need to install 6.66 nforce package and I'm wondering if I should give this raid driver another try? Thanks
RGone Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 D_E you had better have all your stuff backed up because the raid drivers installed when updating to 6.66 have caused me to have to replace image of drives since it never again booted to windoors. It is best to leave updating of drivers until such time as a re-install of windoors is in process. Oh h*ll yes many get by and many get by many times> but the optimal windows is obtained with install of driver set and run that driver set and windows until next install and update drivers. So you be your own guide. Having an image of my partitions allows for such testing of drivers to occurr since I have images of the o/s with zero drivers installed. RGone... DeathEvil Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Angry I mentioned before in post that I tried fresh install of OS with 6.66 sata driver but After instalation I couldn;t boot to windows (tried 16/4 and 64/4) on third time I used dfi driver and BAM, no problems at all (testing now 16/4 and later 64/16). I think you right, it is better to make a backup of partition before installing those evil drivers. Do you think norton ghost 2005 will do the trick? I have also 2003 if it's better.
