Minsc Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I'm using a 56" Samsung P5685W, a 60" DLP screen. I love everything about it, the only exception being a slight delay in the video processing that makes fine mouse control hard and makes competitive gaming difficult (but does not affect casual gaming one bit.) Do you have such delay issues? I hear some Mitsubishi models have a "game mode" which speeds up the image drawing (presumably by disabling some lesser important video post-processing functions) that works quite well. I love it so much it's my primary display. The pedestal look is super cool. I sold my desk, and my keyboard/mouse are on my coffee table via extension cords, my couch is my compy chair. It's got a DVI input and the picture is astonishing. It blows away people when they walk in the room - it's more impressive to see my desktop in such clarity for most people than to see HDTV on the thing. I run it at 1280x720, and most games support this resolution. At this res, it's only 60hz refresh, but at 1024x768 I get 75hz refresh. I watch all my DVDs through PowerDVD. Watching old Kung Fu flicks with the Cyberlink video filters is great, they look remastered. Can't imagine using a regular DVD player anymore, don't even have one now. Just the TV, PC, and Time Warner DVR. On another subject, I'd like to dump the Time Warner DVR and get an HD capture card and do it all on the PC. Any advice? red930 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 I was gaming on a 50" Viewsonic VPW505 plasma until I decided to sell it and get a 42" to increase available space in my bedroom. With it and the alderwood table I only had about 2.5 to 3 feet between it and my futon. Didn't quite cut it anymore so out it went. The default Viewsonic drivers were modded to include the full 1366x768 widescreen mode. Many of my visiting friends just couldn't tear themselves away, especially when playing NFS:Underground. With every setting to max the grapics were just absolutely stunning in widescreen mode. I haven't had any delay problems at all, unless it is another software program inducing the delay. Can't really recommend any HD capture cards because I don't know of any that will do it over cable.

Zelig Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Nope, I'm happy with my ~20' viewable CRT at 1600x1200@100Hz. My T.V. is smaller anyway, and only has 1 channel, for the sole purpose of watching hockey.
