Trouble with NEC drive! Contrast/Brightness messed up!

All of my DVDs are playing with the contrast really high and brightness super low. Except, the settings are all set to normal. I can try to compensate in Win DVD 4 by reducing contrast and increasing brightness manually, but it still looks ugly. The same effect is found regardless of the DVD program (real player, wmp, interactual, etc.). What's wrong? Is my drive broken, is it drivers, or something else entirely? How can I fix it? Please help!

Is it an nvidia card? I had some similar problem after I upgraded to a newer driver. What I did to fix it was go into the nvidia control panel and change all the video crap to default and then it was good.

Actually, I don't know lol. But I messed with my Nvidia drivers for a long time. Finally it just worked when I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the latest drivers from nvidia's site a second time. I really thought it was a problem with DVD codecs or my dvd drive, but fortunately, it wasn't the drive. I must've had some remnant settings from non-nvidia drivers messing stuff up.

I told you :P . Stuff like that happened to me but I just had to fix the video settings in the nvidia controlpanel to default. It had messed up when I updated drivers so they the settings must have stayed and conflicted with the new drivers.
