OldGuy Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Does anyone here have two fans "stacked" in their HSF setup? Fans are cheap and if it drops temps even by 1c I'd like to do it. Just wanna know if anyone else does it and has seen positive effect and if you have "matched" fans? These would be 120mm mated to an XP-120 on a "naked" San Diego 3700+... Would two 70+ cfm fans do a better job than a single 110cfm fan as an example??
jayse Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 i read in an article a long time ago that stacking fans does increase airflow throughput, this was the case for case fans(no pun intended), i'm pretty sure it would have the same affect for a HSF combo. Smoken Joe Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 It does not automaticly work due to increased turbulence. I have tried it on several heatsinks it helped one hurt a couples temps and did nothing for the last.A duct or shroud viving the air from the fan to work out some of the turbulence seemend to help and if you can get air from outside the case blowing on the HSF that can really help.
