EvoFighter Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I just noticed that ping to my router (Linksys WRT54GS) with the Nvidia LAN port is min 1ms, max 20ms and average 16ms which is quite abnormal I suppose. If I use the Marvell LAN port to ping all <1ms and average 0ms. Is it because I use the Nvidia Firewall? I use the "Anti-hacking only" profile for the ping test in both case. If you do a search on the fourm for Nivdia Firewall, etc you will find boat loads of issues.. its not worth it.... your w54 Linksys has a perfectly capable firewall in the router that will take up NO rescources on your systemAlso consider using the Marvell LAN and ditching the Nvidia one.. mack73 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I'm not sure how robust the nvidia firewall is, but if it was doing true packet sniffing it would slow down the speed.
