Mounting xp-90 on NF4 Ultra-D

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to mount an xp-90 on a nf4 ultra-d..and it doesn't look like it's going to clip on to the yellow plastic that comeson the board. So I'm guessing you have to use the plastic moutning thing that came with the heat sink itself, right?

Am I going to have to fiddle with anything in the back of the motherboard? or can I just unscrew the screws, toss on the black one, and hopefully have it work?

Sorry for the newb questions..but I'm new to all this new computer stuff

all you need is to unscrew the grenn dfi plate and screw in the supplied plate. make sure you use the same back plate though, and you need to use the longer screws supplied by the XP-90

The screws that came with my XP-120 were the wrong type so i ended up buying some #6-32 screws at the hardware store and cut them down to fit. Just lay your case on its side and loosen the 2 screws that hold down your heatsink retention bracketand the take them out 1 at a time just to make sure the backplate does not shift( Mine seemed secure) then mount the bracket that comes with the heatsink and you should be well on your way.

That's interesting. My XP-120 screws worked just fine. I wonder if it was a fluke for yours. Anyway, the instructions in these replies are accurate. Just unscrew the existing bracket and use the bracked supplied with your heatsink.
