Diverge Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Here is a possible fix to the problem described above and the response by seasonic and DFI that is also mentioned above. But i guess this would only apply if your running your memory off the 5v jumper setup, but it is still an interesting read http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=65481

ratchetcat Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 That's odd -- as I mentioned previously in this thread, I had a Seasonic 430W and was experiencing the cold boot issue. I just dropped in a new 600W S12 (the model number is 600HT-F3BLR -- the second revision, I guess). The DRAM power light now comes on as it should when the PSU is activated by the rear switch. With my 430W Seasonic, the DRAM light wouldn't come on, and the first boot never POSTed. First boot with this 600W? Up and running, no problem. dmo580 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I just got myself a S12 600W. My DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D comes in a few days. I'll have info for you by next Monday.
MoodyDragon Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 While I have not had any problems with booting etc, I notice that my voltages are consistenly on the lower side. For example, the CPU voltage is regularly around 1.07 volts... the 5 volt also sags a bit... around 4.6 volts I have cut and pasted the values below: Field Value Sensor Properties Sensor Type ITE IT8712F (ISA 290h) GPU Sensor Type National LM63 (ATI-I2C 4Ch) Motherboard Name DFI nF4 Series Temperatures Motherboard 35 °C (95 °F) CPU 26 °C (79 °F) North Bridge 44 °C (111 °F) GPU 40 °C (104 °F) GPU Ambient 35 °C (95 °F) WDC WD1600JS-00MHB0 29 °C (84 °F) WDC WD1600JS-00MHB0 28 °C (82 °F) Cooling Fans CPU 3125 RPM Chassis 1017 RPM Power Supply 5625 RPM Voltage Values CPU Core 1.07 V +3.3 V 3.23 V +5 V 4.87 V +12 V 11.71 V +5 V Standby 4.92 V VBAT Battery 3.09 V
dmo580 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 If you are EVER concerned about your voltages being too low/high based on software, CONFIRM those fears by using a multimeter. My multimeter showed 11.77 (within 2%) while MBM read 11.65. Some people have seen even bigger discrepancies when using software to monitor voltage. Key: Software is almost always off (by a lot too), so please verify with multimeter.
davidhammock200 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 SLI PSU's: PC P&C 510 Express/SLI OCZ PowerStream 520W (1A less than nVidia recommends) or 600W Enermax 535W (2A less than nVidia recommends) or 600W Fortron/Sparkle 550W nVidia recommends +12V@34A for SLI. I know that the OCZ PowerStream 520W runs just about any SLI rig without problems & if fact Anandtech used the OCZ PS 520W for their SLI testing! IMO the Enermax 535W with a combined +12V@32A shouldn't have any problems either. Non-SLI PSU's: Enermax 485W or 495W Fortron Blue Storm 500W OCZ ModStream 520W This is the new "A" list for PSU's as these have proven to give the best results with DFI N4 mobos. I will be doing a complete update of the PSU guide when I get back on Tuesday. vwgtinut Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I hope when my Seasonic s12 600w gets here that it likes my DFI board :/ Man I just ordered one of these last Friday!
pelikan Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 No problems here. This S12 is very nice. I had Fortrons for years and always loved them for their stable rails. But I had to put Panaflos in them to quiet them down. I have never heard a psu as quiet as the S12. And the rails are very good. Tested with a DMM there is almost no fluctuation and they sit at 3.3v, 5.1v, 12.3v. Vcore and vdimm just sit there and don't budge at all.
