Monitor power on issues, someone tell me I'm not going crazy

Recommended Posts

Ok this is weird. My setup is in my sig, along with a Dell 24" wide screen flatpanel. Yesterday I was having issues where I rebooted, and the PC would boot into windows (you can hear it through the speakers) but the monitor's power indicator stayed amber, and wouldn't turn on. I tried rebooting many times and it will turn on about 1 in 10 times - the other 9, same thing - boots into windows, monitor doesn't power on.

I tried both DVI ports on my 6800GT, didn't make a difference.

On the powerstrip I had my rig connected to, I also have 2 19" CRTs and another athlon PC. So out of desperation I plugged my PC and LCD into its own powerstrip on a different plug in the wall.

Reboots perfect every time. I'm dumbfounded

Someone tell me thats what fixed it and it wasn't a fluke.

I dont think thats desperation.. its called troubleshooting.. :)

I would say if you put it back in the same strip as the rest and it does it ( not turn on ) .. but doesnt when its plugged into a different spot.. Your prolly overloading the powerstrip with too much stuff on it..
