Guest Joalaielna Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Yesterday it started storming really bad outside. So me being smart thought i should shutdown and unplug my cpu's just to be safe. Well After the storm i went to turn on Rig 2 In sig, My NEW one. And It just started beeping at me. Beep.....Beep......Beep......And so on. I tried Clearing bios plenty of times, nothing. Tried booting without VGA, still nothing. I've tried different ram. also no go. I pulled my xp90 off to check for burn marks, Nada. I am at a loss  Is this the cold boot bug? I seems weird that i could have damamged the Processor. Thanks guys The Lord works is Mysterious Ways. Guest Joalaielna Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I tried for only about 20 min's with battry out. Do i need to have the cpu running with battry out or unpluged? I believe you should unplug, set the clear cmos jumper, and remove battry. Is this correct? As far as I know it is. Alright i am going to clear it untill tomorrow. I'll post back. Was anything connected like lan? did you get her back up and running playah? Yes clearing Cmos did it

red930 Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Man that rig #2 sure is sweet, hate to see it down,I'm wondering if being connected via lan during the storm somehow corrupted the bios. I might try two different methods of attack, either a hotflash of the NF4 chip in the NF2 MB or try to boot w/a minimum of components. If you don't want to do an overnite long clear Cmos that is, http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...982&postcount=3 Is it showing signs of a possible corrupt bios,do you remember the insert trick from your NF2 days, might be worth a try
Guest Joalaielna Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Tried insert trick, that didn't work. I was thinking about hotflashing it. It's a pain because i only have 1 floppy for 4 cpu's so i have to change them around eachtime i need to do a bios flash. LOL. I'm cheap. I've also tried minimum componets just cpu ram and vga. I've even tried it without ram to see if it would get past the 3rd LED. The system seems to get stuck on the varifying cpu LED. Thanks playah for the help.
