Pc Hangs when installing game

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I've recently (last Friday) bought a DFI NF4 SLI-DR and since then I've been having a weird problem.

I can install Windows XP just fine (in fact I did that at least 4 times now :P ) but everytime I try to install World of Warcraft the pc hangs and there's nothing I can do but reboot the machine.

It hangs randomly, sometimes during CD1 install, sometimes during CD2 install and so on..

I thought it might have been a WoW problem, so I tried with another copy of the game: same results, it randomly hangs.

Reading posts here I took the suggestion and had the chance of trying a 500w PSU: nothing changed, it hung while at disk 3.

The strange thing is that it's just windows that hangs, cause even if the system is hung I can access the DVD and remove the cd from it touching the front button.

I've tried installing 2 different copies of the game, with 2 different DVD reader.

I can copy the files of the 4 cds with no problems on the pc but if I try to install it from HD it hangs again.

It never happened with my previous system, and I just changed the Motherboard and Videocard since friday. Since I have no problem copying the cds on the HD, and it's ok to explore them with 'My Computer', I never had problems installing the game, the cds are not scratched, maybe it's something to do with the motherboard?

The system never hung when not trying to install that game. I installed Windows XP, did all the updates, installed Office and updated it, and I'm here writing this post with no problems at all.

Any suggestion? Any help would be appreciated :)

I havent overcloked the system, I havent touched any Bios setting, everything is set as out of box.

I own a Matrox 120gb sata and 2 Western Digital 80gb IDE.

I tried installing Windows on both, Sata and IDE.

I have the same results: pc hangs both on Sata Drive and IDE drive

Thanks everyone for replying so quickly :)
