Running My Computer without the need for fan on the cpu header?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, wondering if you could tell me....is it possible to boot this system without a fan on the "cpu header"?

I've got a watercooling that im thinking of modding my case to get in....but the fans included with it haven't got a rpm monitor on them.

I've also took the Asetek waterchill box out, as i wanted the pump to be on when ever my powers switched on at the wall socket.

What i'll be doing is taking the lead that plugs into the waterchill unit, which also in turn...plugs in between the psu lead and the psu, and wiring that directly to the pump in my case a Hydor L-30 Seltz II.

So it all boils down to will it boot without a fan connected below a preset temperature? As my Radiator fans are going to be at 7-12v depending on noise.

Otherwise....is there a option to disable it checking for a fan?

Many Thnx

Cool, how do you do that then, just disconnected the fan from the header without having to adjust the temps?

Dont want to pull my case out and try, as ive had enough bad luck with the computer since wednesday, it freezing.....for no reason on boot....thats stopped now :s.....then wireless went the wrong way.......now the monitor cable has snapped internally and i have to have the computer pressed against the wall for a decent picture without it being purple :(

O.K i tried it, my monitor is purple now.....but it didnt show the cpu fan speeds and temps in the bios with purple screen after trying, and i shat my self up! Thought id screwed the bios big time lol, turned out if i shove on the Monitor cable hard enough.

That the picture will go back right...and i do get my temps back :D YaY!!!

Time for watercooled modding now :D
