zinga14 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Ok. I'm not new to the computer building scene at all, but this is my first build with DFI. All the parts I am using except the 7800 came out of my Gigabyte nf3 board which ran perfectly fine so i doubt it is a hardware componant issue. I've had my fair share of problems with boards before but I have never encountered this. The board posts fine and bios runs without a problem. I reformatted my HD and installed the raid drivers without any problem. Computer restarts and when it gets to the point where the windows splash screen should come up the computer restarts. It does it all the time at that same point. I ubdated the bios to the latest on DFI's website 623-3, tried clearing the cmos for a good 10 min with cord unplugged, all 4 board power connectors are pluggen in, used both the NV4 sata ports and the SI ports, tried using only 1 stck of ram in slot 2 and even stuck some old kingston pc 2700 ram i had in there and still same problem. I disconnected all devices cept HD, Vid card, and cd drive and it always restarts. Also tried the settings from this thread http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5844 I have been working and trying different things on this board and reading through these forums for the past 8 hrs. I really want to get this board to work because I hear it's one of the best and I really would rather take the time to fix it than RMA it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. OceanSeasforMe Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 1 GB (2x512) Corsair XMS (TWINX1024-3200XLPRO) memory Corsair and DFI don't always play nice. <---(understatement) Some have no troubles and some never get them working. Its a dice roll IMHO. NF4 Ultra-D Step by Step New Build http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=49 Might see if you missed a step. I used this thread. Start eliminating the possibles. Some setups go smooth and some are one little detail that takes some time to find.

zinga14 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ok I looked through that post and I actually reinstalled the whole unit just to make sure i didn't miss anything. Still same problem. Right now I'm at my wits end with this thing. Has anybody else had this problem?
cpuz Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 strip it down to bare bones, ie cpu/ 1 stick ram/ psu (all 4 connections) vid card, see if it will boot.
zinga14 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I have already done that. It's as if whenever it tries to access and read the HD to load windows it reboots. With no HD in the system it doesn't. But windows setup can format the drive and copy the instalation files with no problem. Is there a possible compatibility issue between Maxtor and DFI? cpuz Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Did you see this thread on maxtor drives
zinga14 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Hrm...... Could possibly be that although his actually ran windows and mine has always detected my drive. Unfortunately I don't have another drive to put in there. While it may be a possibility I just came across this thread http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17110 seems he has the same problem with an NF3 board. I'll have to dig around and see if i can find an IDE drive to try out.
