rebo Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Hi, My nF4 chipset seems to be running too hot, at idle its 55 degrees. Under load it hits 60. I think the main reason its hot is that its under the rear of my 6800GT card. What would be the best way to get that temperature down? Would a fan in the side of the case blowing in help? I have an antec plusview 1000, with one fan at the rear blowing out and one fan at the front blowing in. Thanks for your help in advance. p.s. Nothing in my system is overclocked yet. mack73 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Try turning down the chipset voltage, you won't need anything over the stock voltage
se7en.hu Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 In BIOS set the chipset fan to kick in full speed at >25 degrees That way it will be 7000~RPM 24/7 leaving you with a nice cool chipset (some people have reported this to be loud, however, i have mine set to max and i can barely hear it outside of the case )
wbork Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I added a fan thats aimed at the chipset. My temps dropped about 10 degrees. The chipset temps are running at 47 degrees after 2 hours of bf2, before about 57. also runs about 40 at idle.
Guest burningrave101 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 If your not having stability issues then dont worry about it too much. The NF4 chipset is rated to take temps alot higher. If you've raised the chipset voltage any then you should set it back to default and leave it there unless you experience instability and then you can bump it up to 1.6-1.7V. 3 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Well, you have an XFX video card, and they are known to have some of the worst coolers on them. They generate a lot of heat, and if it sits right over the NB... Set the fan to power up to full speed at 50C, the default is 55C, but I think that's to hot. You can also try putting AS5 on it. tuncer Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Putting a nice, quiet fan blowing directly onto the NF4 did the trick for me. Works great.
