davidhammock200 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 IMO, the DFI N4's are like older British & Italian sports cars, tempermental, but well worh the efforts! These mobos are for people who demand the highest possible performance & understant that meeting that demand is neither cheap nor easy, but the results are very rewarding. Good Luck, Dave
marcuri Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 eh what the hell you people convinced me to go DFI. i'm good with computers, built about 4 so far, and i researched the f out of this computer so i want it to last. i also have alot of time to mess around with this thing and i'll learn alot from it... its going to be one of my first times seriously overclocking any system (all before this were air cooled and were oc'd a bit past stock). this is also going to be my first water cooling setup... alot of firsts for me. i'm going with a 3000+ at first (until the dual cores come down in price) and going with a 'cheap' videocard like a 6800gt or 6600gt while i wait for the newer gen cards to come down in price (or in ati's case, come out). now on with the memory issue... TCCD memory chips are hard to come by (i think).... the memory setup i was considering was 2 x 1gig of corsair found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145575 or the muschian (sp?) redline 4000 found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146392 so right not it seems that i'm considering either another gig with a slight latency increase and less ocing or good latency timings and great ocing but half the memory (cheaper too....). Never had memory with less than 2.5 cas so i have no idea what its like to have low latency.... this is definately an upgrade over my old abit kd7-raid board with a 1.4 ghz athlon (about 4 years old now). so i really don't know what would result in a better overall experiance. any input is welcome. Redline seems like its the way to go for me but i have no idea if its TCCD based memory (or one of those types that are similar to TCCD). Corsair it seems safe to assume that it is not. Anyone have any good TCCD memory recommendations and where to find em? thanks for the input and the honesty is appreciated. Hymn Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Hymn man that was not the BS type of flame we do not often put up with. I think it is pretty straight shooting actually. By the time a user gets here with questions and looks around he is primed to run the other way anyhow. But a user to 'explain' what 92% of the problems stem from actually could turn the user back to DFI. I know PR folks don't have a clue to that but I do. I am first a tweaker and speed freak beat it till it breaks and want more until I settle down on each board. I have to admit Rgone. This was my first time builing a fresh computer in 2 years! (long time!) I was totally scared on choosing my computer and parts carefully. I was first going to buy myself a 100% stock HP Presario computer. To my (future luck), it happend to be discontinued. I then turned and was going to go with an Asus, but i didnt give up. I said to myself that wasnt enough for me. It wasnt a big challenge. I found out this brand ide never ever ever heard before, called DFI. I said to myself "Who the heck is DFI?!" I found your forums, joined, read some of the latest posts, and the happend to be problems people had been having. I read and read and read, as if it were like drugs or something. They just kept pushing me away and pushing me away further. Sometimes i would come across a post of peoples succes and i liked that. I knew i was perhaps going to be in for something when i got my DFI, knew what i was going to expect, and i was actually expecting problems to arrise at first build. (once again its been 2 years). I finally decided. "This computer is for me, its going to be my dream machine." And boy was i right. These mobos are for people who demand the highest possible performance & understant that meeting that demand is neither cheap nor easy, but the results are very rewarding. I tell you, david should be quoted somewhere. That quote is 100% true to my belief. My end result made me LOVE DFI. I love my SLI-DR board, and ive learned alot just from owning it. Ide even guarantee that anyone who plain old joins DFIs just for the heck of it, will learn SOMETHING by being an active member here. DFI rules! So does A_G, Rgone, and all of those other DFI members here. Once i build another computer, i am for sure going to get another DFI motherboard. Because i was VERY rewarded with my expenses. Come with nothing, leave with something. Tom

malinois1 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 TCC5 IMO is just as good as TCCD. Get the OCZ 3200 Plat. Ed. Rev 2's. They OC like hell and are not that expensive.
