davidhammock200 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Looks good to me. I would go with a Seagate HDD for running quiet & cool, plus they has a 5yr warranty. Good Luck, Dave
fenixco Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 With a few minor adjustments, it looks like my rig.

Erekosse Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I'd recommend a DVD-ROM added to your configuration - or at least during the OS install. I'm not sure why, but I've found on a couple of occasions that trying to install a Windows OS using a burning drive generates errors and fails. You can get one relatively inexpensively - Fry's in Atlanta has a BTC 16x on sale for $20 at least every 3rd week. malinois1 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 3500+ venice or 3700+ san diego? sapphire or msi x800xl? Gold VX or GOld el plat rev 2 or el plat rev 2 San Diego Sapphire Rev 2 without a doubt. I have seen to many issues with High Voltage ram for my liking with this set-up.
Angry_Games Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 i would go for the Hitachi SATA II 160GB 8mb cache hard drive for $85.00 and the OCZ Gold 3200 BH-5 UTT instead of the VX but thats my personal choice. looks good.
cmay119 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I actually vote for the OCZ EL Golds. Pretty much the exact same ram as mine. Very inexpensive and good overclockers if you are looking for tighter timings on ram. Good choice on PSU as well. EDIT: lol A_G you beat me to the punch
scrapser Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 You've choosen the same RAM/Motherboard as I have (wish it was the same CPU, too). I'll be interested in your experiences once you start working with the BIOS. I'll also try to be of help if I can. I'm cutting my own path it seems. scrapser
Morpheus Kane Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I think you have made some good choices with the hardware. From the looks of it you know a thing or two. However to throw in my input i like nvidia cards better than ATI. We could prolly debate this idea all day but being a former ati customer for several years this year made the switch to nvidia 6800gt and I wont look back. I am more happy with the control applet that allows you to do about everything you want the most plus I get alot more performance out of this card than my former 9800 256 card from ati. If it were me I would go with nvidia but lets see what others say. Guys put in your input on this !!
malinois1 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I will second the Hitach Sata II's as AG suggested. Very fast drives

They are equally good, and their drivers are equally good. Keep in mind that I use these two types of cards in machines all day long every day and I can honestly find no real difference in them. the new 7800GTX is the fastest of course (and the most expensive) but the new R520 Radeon will probably be even faster (32 pipe i think vs the 7800's 24 pipe) and then Nv will release a faster card then ATI then nv then ATI etc etc drivers are very good on both sides.
