getterflash Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I still waiting on a SATA drive before assembling my nF3 Ultra system. One question I have been unable to find the answer to. Will the system recognize SATA drives the same way it recognizes PATA drives, or do I have to install some kind of driver during Windows XP installation? I plan on using 1 WD SATA Raptor and a 160GB Hitachi PATA drive. The Raptor as the system drive and the 160GB drive for audio and video files. At this time I am not planning on using RAID. Thanks. Dirk Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 As long as your Sata controler is enabled in the bios, windows should find it fine. In bios set it as the first bootable device.
Trevor Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 It will recognize it just fine without using a disk however when you decide to use raid you will need a disk or slipstream it onto the winxp install disk.
