lgattone Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Hello all. I have just stumbled across your guy's site about a week ago after reading reviews on the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 and liking what I saw. This board looks to be one of the best pci-e boards made right now and the reviews support that. What I'm asking today is if my setup with the Ultra-D looks to be a decent overclockable machine. I'm not going to be going for records or anything. Just thought I've take a stab at some faster stuff. Here it goes: ASPIRE X-Dreamer ATXB3KLW-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply - Retail DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model Twinx2048-3200c2pt - Retail 2x HITACHI Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 -0A30356 80GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA II Hard Drive - OEM HIS Hightech P-ICE80XN-2I-ZAM Radeon X800XL 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail Sky Hawk/Eagle Tech POWERONE SERIES ATX-GM570PC ATX 12V, EPS 12V, AMD ATX-GES 570W Power Supply - Retail (i am looking for another better looking overall "cooler" psu that works well that is also 24 pin) ARCTIC COOLING Silencer64UltraTC L 87 x 87 x 33 mm Blue LED Light Cooling Fan - Retail A DVD Burner A Floppy Drive VANTEC NXP-305-BK Fan & Light Controller Panel (Black) - Retail Arctic Silver 5 2x 80mm fans for the front of the case 1x 120mm fan for the back of the case. davidhammock200 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 That Aspire PSU is not good. :shake: PSU Guide: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 DFI now REQUIRES native 24-pin ATX molex & 480W for all the DFI N4 mobos. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...22&postcount=34 Good Luck

Any psu that comes with a case tends to be on the trashier side imho. How about that psu that is listed in this post? Any input on the rest of the computer. Angry_Games Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 the Skyhawk 570w is what is powering my monster SLI machine right now. Great psu. stay away from Corsair memory. It doesn't work very well in our boards. AndyOCZ RyderOCZ (OCZ guys) memoryman (Buffalo Tech guy) CrucialLabs (Crucial/Ballistix guy) ask all of them which 2x1024 modules within your price range will work good for what you want to do. They all have our boards and they will recommend something for you that will for sure work. Corsair on the other hand doesn't seem interested in anything but selling you memory and then denying that it wont work properly... Is it that the Corsair isn't good for oc'ing or that it just don't work with the boards that well? My price range on memory for 2gb is pretty solid at 250 bucks. Thanks for that input though. Saved me some problems.
lgattone Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Reason I'm getting 2gb of ram and running those drives in raid 0 is because I'm playing everquest 2 and the 2 gb of ram is what is needed to not get drop stop and roll type lag while running in town. I can afford 250 on the ram whatever it is. If it works for oc'ing and with this board and has low latencies so it's doing what I need it to do then I'm all for trying any brand. Angry_Games Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 the OCZ Plat 3200 2x1024 (Infineon based 2-3-5-2) is about $250-ish i have some coming and I already fixed up a customers rig with it earlier this week. Corsair memory just doesn't play well with our boards, they don't provide us with any memory (OCZ/Buffalo/Crucial all supply us with memory AND support), and they refuse to acknowledge that their memory has problems in our board. so we dont even fool with Corsair. OceanSeasforMe Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I like the fact that this card exhausts externally however, inside the green circle the fan shroud looks like it mounts Directly OVER the NF4 chipset intake…. *(If installed in the top slot…) At the least, you will probably need to go to extra lengths get air to the nf4 chipset. Also, I had clearance issues (Vid card VS nf4 chipset) and anything protruding under the card itself runs a risk of causing installation / modification issues. See if searches on you card here show any others who made it go in a dfi board. EDIT : and IF you put it in a lower slot it will cost you a PCI (regular slot because the fan.) I'll look at that ocz plat 3200 and if you have some coming it should be decent stuff from what I've read of your past posts. I'll look into it  In reference to the gpu, I have looked a ton of pictures to make sure it didn't have problems with that fan that is so close to the pci-e slot and i got these two pictures and I hope there isn't a problem with that. I really like that card and it runs about 11 degrees cooler than normal ones. Edit: Can I put it in the lower slot and burn a pci slot and still get 16x. I've read that is only runs in 2x or 8x if you enable the sli jumpers but if i can run the card in 16x in the lower slot then I am not worried at all. All I have pci wise is my sound card.
