xp-90 Cooling solution

Recommended Posts

I see alot of people are using the XP-90 Heatsink. Is this a good choice? Is it easily installed? Do I have to modify anything to make it fit? Should I get Aluminum or Copper? What fan should I use?

Does the fan blow down onto the heatsink or up from the heatsink?

Thanks!

the xp 90 is an excellent choice. you don't need to do anything to it. i would stick with the aluminum one. a lot lighter and only couple degrees difference between the two

Agreed & very good advice!

A 92mm Panaflo 48/57/68 CFM fan is recommend, also.

$25 at Jab-Tech & SVC!

I actually found it alittle hard to install. Havent ever installed a Athlon64 before, someone with any problem solving skills could figure it out.

The instructions were a little bare. but performance was Great. Good Choice.

Thanks for the info! Just ordered the XP-90 and panaflo fan.

Should the fan blow down towards the heatsink, or up?

You won't regret the purchase  I have one right now combined with a Panaflo H1A. Awesome.

You'd want the fan to "blow up" (suck air from the HS, not blow onto it).

According to physics and all that junk, the XP-90 SHOULD perform as well or better than the XP-90C.

See, the difference between COPPER and ALUMINIUM is that...

Copper absorbs heat MUCH faster than Aluminium....

....while Aluminium dissapates heat MUCH better & faster than Copper...

...so if that's totally correct, the XP-90 regular SHOULD be the best, because of its COPPER base and ALUMINIUM fin's. :D

i have the heatsink fan blowing on the heatsink an i like to have all case fans on the side and front intaking air. i made three blowholes to exhaust the heat since heat rises.
