For what it's worth, I wrote a little batch file to launch two instances of Prime95, each configured for each core.

It also launches the taskmanager so you can see both cores in action.

@echo off

start taskmgr.exe

start E:DownLoad1Prime95PRIME95.EXE

start E:DownLoad2Prime95PRIME95.EXE

The little bit of knowledge this batch file took (and may provide) is the use of the command "start". Without this command, the batchfile will wait for the first instance to finish before launching the second. "Start" only starts the executable before moving on to the next line.

The next thing I'd like to do is find switches for taskmgr.exe, so that I get the GUI display showing the cores running at 100%. Looked around but couldn't find any. If anyone knows I'd be very appreciative.

What if my Task manager only shows one core, also my CoreTemp.exe only shows the temp on core #1? Core #2 is blank. Also in Task Manager/Processes it wont let me select Affinity anymore. What happened ?? Any clues?

OK, how long do I have to run this test for ?

Does it end itself, or do I stop it after some specfic time ??

Also I have 2GB memory (2 sticks of 1GB each)...so how do I configure the memory settings for this ?

thanx in advance..

If you are running Dual Prime 95 for an OCDB run - DON'T.

Entry rules have changed and SP2004 (Single Core) and Orthos (Dual Core) are now the only stability test that is acceptable for emtries.

That being said, the required time considered minimum at "the street" is 8 hours.

Although many choose to run 12 or 24 - cause, well, cause they can.

Feel free to PM and/or post if you have any questions.

No, I think you have misunderstood me.....I am not OCing the CPU right now....

because my setup is new, I am just testing the stability of the Opty 165, without any sort of OCing...

so for this kinda test, Prime 95 was recommended (on the old DFI street at least)...

so how long do I run Prime 95 for such a test ?
